  • Peaceful family-friendly site on the Norfolk coast
  • A 15-minute walk from the nearest beach; a 15-minute drive from Cromer
  • Walking distance from pubs and food shops
A big ‘yes please’ to a break by the sea? Then root down at Green Gables Camping Ground. This peaceful site in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has views over the surrounding countryside. A 15-minute walk away from the nearest beach and 15 minutes' drive away from Cromer, you’ll also be well situated for activities that revolve around the sand and sea. Plus, with four acres of grasslands (and rather splendid rural views), there’s plenty of space for everyone to unwind. It’s likely you’re already heading to the coast with the idea of whiling your day away on the sand and pottering (or speeding your way) around the coastal footpaths. If so, this site is a 15-minute walk away from the sheltered Trimingham beach… perhaps take a surfboard for the waves or set your sights on the good fishing spots. Very handily, the beach joins up with the coastal path, and there’s a small food shop 20 minutes’ walk away along this route, well-positioned for filling your pockets with some energy-boosting snacks before you set off. Catch a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs on the way to Mundesley beach too (40 minutes’ walk in the same direction). If you’re feeling a little sandy after your adventures, there’s an amenities block on site that has showers and toilets. Other on-site facilities include a washing-up area for you to take care of your dirty dishes or grab some drinking water.

What customers say

Basic, friendly campsite, great value near beach & coastal paths. Peaceful vibe, campfires welcome. Facilities a bit dated for some, but others found them clean & functional with hot showers. Welcoming owners a highlight.

Liked As advertised. Lovely and quiet, wild camping which we loved. Children explored the wooded area and it was nice and close to the beaches.
Welcomed by the owner and given a short tour. Everything was as expected.

Liked Nothing

Disliked The pictures lie don't visit this site!
As soon as we turned down the road we had a bad feeling- and as we pulled into the gate way it became clear why.
We pulled into a small paddock with a scrap van and boat fenced off, a conpletely trashed portacabin-like building and 2 run down static caravans. No one was about and we immediately turned around to find a different campsite.
On this website the site is shown to have 7.1 stars, however when you actually read all the poor reviews you wonder why.
According to other reviews there is another paddock you camp in, but campers pictures show the paddock is equally as run down, with scrap in the hedges and the toilets are terrible.
Me and my friend were left quite distraught by this experience and lost money.

Not impressed.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Peaceful ... quiet .... great location direct access to coastal path with outstanding views. Toilets, washing up area and showers basic but relatively clean. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is your site. Nice flat field firepits available and wood. Owner came round to check you were ok and if needed anything then left you to it ... good phone signal too for peace of mind, just what was needed great site will definitely be returning.

Disliked Not much view but nice and secluded

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Quiet, loads of space on pitch, friendly folks, clean toilets, adventure to go for a shower

Disliked Shower block could do with a bit of a spruce up
Not disliked but inconvenient-unable to spot where to recycle anything and no waste water/chemical loo disposal but at it is advertised as a campsite it wasn't a bother as we could empty at the next camping/campervan spot!

Local attractions

Beach days on the brain? No worries – sandy shores are on the horizon, whether it’s Mundesley beach's (five minutes’ drive) safe swimming waters, beach huts and watersports or Cromer’s beach and traditional pier (15 minutes), a popular crabbing spot for novices and pros, by the way. Sea Palling Beach (35 minutes) is another watersports haven with plenty of swims and sandy dunes in store. It's likely you’ve already met the site’s alpacas, but if it’s monkeys, pumas and peccaries you’d like to see next, Amazona Zoo (15 minutes) has a cluster of South American animals. You’re sure to spot some creepy crawlies and feathered animals around the woodland and parkland walks, the lake and walled garden at Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate (15 minutes) too. If you’ve kids to keep occupied, they might enjoy clambering across the treehouse adventure park at BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) or gliding across the boating lake at North Lodge Park (10 minutes). Heard of Henry Blogg, a famous lifeboat crew member who performed some fearsome rescues? The RNLI Henry Blogg Museum (15 minutes) remembers his life and some of his craziest rescues.
