  • Peaceful no-frills campsite 20 minutes’ drive from Norwich in Norfolk
  • Blickling Estate 20 minutes’ drive and Cromer Beach 35 minutes
  • Spacious pitches surrounded by trees; families and dogs welcome
The gorgeous and historic city of Norwich, the Norfolk Broads and the coast at Cromer are all on hand when you book a stay at Fair Acre Touring Site, 15 minutes’ walk from the quiet village of Horsford in Norfolk. Here you’ll have spacious pitches sheltered by oak trees and surrounded by rhododendrons, which look spectacular when in full flower during spring and summer. This simple spot has CCTV at its entrance down a country lane and is gated for guest security, with basic facilities running to a rudimentary communal electric shower and toilet in the stable block. There are picnic tables dotting the site – ideal for summer barbecue evenings – and hopefully you may get to see a multitude of birds and wildlife during your stay. There are also water taps on the wall at the stable block and a grey water drain at the side of the driveway, as well as rubbish and recycling bins. In Horsford, source supplies from the convenience store, nurse a pint in the pub garden on warmer days and pick up takeaways for those times when you’re not feeling the cooking vibe. Take country walks in Horsford Forest straight from the pitches (good news for any accompanying dogs) and if you’re keen on pedal power, you can cycle on many quiet local routes too.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Close to home as it’s nice just to get away, but knowing home is just a few minutes drive. Decent sizes pitches.

Disliked: I fully appreciate that this is a no frills campsite however it would have been nice to be greeted by hosts. A little explanation of facilities would have been appreciated as we were new to the site. We didn’t know if there was grey waste or fresh water, I had to keep texting the host. When we did find everything it was all overgrown with stinging nettles & nothing was signed posted. I got a message it was near the big tyres, but there were several sets of tyres!! & it was set back under stinging nettles. We ventured to find the shower it was not welcoming it was in the corner of a storage room, with the toilet the other side. Both were dirty & not cleaned. All the dislikes makes me very sad as this could be an amazing site!

From the manager: Very disappointing that you didn’t enjoy our peaceful site more, however you do need to check terms and conditions. We are a self check in site with contact by mobile, hence no meet and greet as you are informed. We describe a meadow site and there are weeds and wildlife but I think you missed the grey water drain in the driveway! There are water taps as required and labelled. The toilet is communal and in a stable block, described as rudimentary so as to not mislead. It cannot be checked throughout the day as we do not live on site but cleaners are available as per description. We offer good value with all extras inclusive and find this review inaccurate and very unsympathetic.
