Working from home!
Hubbles all day breakfast
Lake 5 17lb 10oz mirror carp
Lake 5 view from our motorhome pitch

  • Dog-friendly Norfolk site with relaxing fishing lakes and a woodland
  • Half an hour’s drive from Thetford Forest’s Go Ape and High Lodge
  • Catfish, carp, tench, silverfish and more over five well-stocked lakes
Anglers and adventurers, get ready, because Fendicks Fishery is a stunning Norfolk site with five well-stocked fishing lakes and a mature woodland, just half an hour’s drive from Thetford Forest. Out there, there’s plenty of adventuring to be done, with High Lodge and its Go Ape centre as a good starting point. There's a well-balanced atmosphere at this site, as the team have worked hard over the years to manage and landscape the grounds so that there’s a good combination of nature and fishing. Anglers have access to five lakes with a variety of fish up for grabs, including catfish (weighing in at over 95 lbs), carp, tench, silverfish and more. With 32 acres of mature woodland surrounding the lake, peaceful and scenic are two words that accurately Fendicks Fishery. Plus, there’s a splendid set-up in terms of facilities, with a toilet and shower block that’s kept toasty by underfloor heating, a washing-up area, washing machines, information room, Elsan points and the reception area. All the grassy pitches have access to electric hook-up (how handy). When you’re not unwinding around the acres of space around this well-kept site or spending an afternoon fishing, you could take off onto the miles of paths around Thetford Forest or head further out onto the Norfolk coast, which will take you around an hour’s drive or just over.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Very organised. Was sorted out straight away. I asked if it was possible for a quiet spot and they sorted it out - no problem.

Really good WiFi

I need to give a big shout out to Tom. As well as being gorgeous and having bulging muscles he is an asset to the team. He looked after me and made sure that I got a good spot. His customer service is fab. When he saw me leaving this morning he made sure that I'd had a good stay. The world needs more Toms!

Scrumpy 2 bedroom lodge (hot tub)

Liked Everything!! This place is perfect, lovely clean, comfy cabins, had everything we needed. Perfect for a relaxing break. The onsite food was delicious and we arrived on a steam rally weekend which was fantastic. Staff are friendly and helpful and the lakes and surrounding areas are kept tidy, perfect for a stroll around with our little dog.

Disliked Absolutely nothing!! The best place we have stayed at and we have stayed at some lovely places!!!

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked We really enjoyed out stay at Fendicks, the toilet/shower block was always clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly and helpful, we also caught lots of fish on our stay, the whole site was well cared for, bins emptied daily and no rubbish lying around.

Disliked The lakes are not as big as they look on the pictures! Also we felt that lake 5 was very over populated with campers and there wasn't much room to fish, we stayed away from that lake. This is only a small issue though and made no impact to our stay, we will be back again next year.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Staying here for the second year running as we really loved the site. Stunning grounds, well maintained with excellent toilets and showers. Used the Scrumpy Field which gave us plenty of room and some distance to our nearest neighbour! Easy access to local bike routes and a great base to explore Norfolk and Suffolk. Also has a bar and food with a fantastic Breakfast menu. Awesome!

Disliked Bar could stay open later, although staff were very helpful.

BumbleBee shepherd's hut

Liked The shepherds hut was really nice, large comfortable beds and it was clean and comfortable. Shower blocks were nice and clean. Sure in general was lovely.

Disliked There was a biker rally going on for two nights with very loud music until 11.30 despite the campsite rules saying no noise after 10pm which I feel we should have been told about when we booked as I would have chosen different dates. The lake was very busy with night fishing and the amount of bivvys on the lakeside and the amount of weed being smoked it was like being at Glastonbury!

Local attractions

Head to High Lodge (half an hour’s drive) to kickstart your tour of Thetford Forest. There are all sorts of ways to become one with the forest, from hiring out a Segway, taking an archery lesson or finding your zen with forest yoga. Go Ape Thetford (half an hour) will require a little bravery and some acrobatic skills for its treetop courses and zipwires, but on the ground, there are three cycling trails and four footpaths to follow from High Lodge. If you’re looking to find some places where the kids are likely to be entertained, Banham Zoo (35 minutes) is one such place, as are Melsop Farm Park (35 minutes) and Church Farm Stow Bardolph (15 minutes), two farm parks with a variety of animals and farm-style activities. A day at the coast is also possible from this site… just pick your seafront of choice. Perhaps Hunstanton (55 minutes) and Cromer (an hour and 20 minutes) to the north, or Great Yarmouth (an hour and 10 minutes) to the east? Towards the coast is Bressingham Steam & Gardens (40 minutes), a nice choice to see working steam locomotives in the flesh.
