General

  • Grassy pitches on a farm site with views of the Malvern Hills
  • A 10-minute drive to Worcester; 45 minutes to West Midland Safari Park
  • Wildlife, waterside walks and fishing on site; pubs and shops close by

Entertain your wild side a little at Hill Top Farm Orchard Campsite. On a Worcestershire ex-dairy farm with cattle in the surrounding fields and a little brook where you might just be able to spot otters, this is really quite a peaceful wild camping site to check into for some downtime – on grassy pitches with views of the Malvern Hills.

In case you wondering, the site is only 15 minutes’ drive away from the hills themselves, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with ripe walking grounds (or paragliding for those of you who are the adventurous type).

Closer by, though, is a golf course (10 minutes’ drive) and the village of Lower Broadheath. Just a short stroll away (15 minutes to be exact), there village has a post office and a pub where you’ll be able to get some tasty food down you. In the other direction, Hallow (10 minutes’ walk) has another friendly pub and a proper handy store to select your essentials.

As this is a wild camping site, facilities include portaloos and fresh water, but dogs are welcome here and barbecues are permitted by your tent too so that you may finish off the day burger-style if you wish.

As well as the brook (waterside walks, yes please), there’s a carp pond on site. Fishing on the pond is available at an extra cost, so those of you who are keen for your fishing gear to see some action won’t need to stray far.

Toilets were spotless which was nice.
Super friendly welcome, pub a 5 minute walk away was great atmosphere and delicious.

We were lucky enough to only have 3 other pitches there when we stayed. Got to soak in the sunset and and my dog loved it too.

What an amazing find! We loved our time here, and will certainly be back. The host, Sue, was brilliant. She was very welcoming and gave us great advice on the local area etc . The site itself was lovely and quite, with great access to drinking water and spotless toilet facilities.

The local pub (The Crown) is about a 5 min walk from the campsite and the food and drink options were great, as were the staff.

    A real gem.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. the field and environment was beautiful - so peaceful and we camped right next to the stream. Although the facilities are basic the toilets were very clean and well kept and there was easy access to running water. We received a really warm welcome from our hosts who provided us with info on where to eat, walks around the hills and also an abundance of firewood to use for our fire.
I would highly recommend Hill Top Farm Orchard Campsite and we will definitely be returning again!

We had a really lovely time. The owner was amazingly helpful and told us where a fab park was within walking distance for my little one. Easy to find a levelish spot for our van and we enjoyed a lovely view of the sunset. It was super quiet and peaceful - with only a couple of other campers the night we stayed. Portaloos were basic but clean and not a problem for us. Really lovely site and a good stopover - it only took us 30minutes to get to West Midlands safari park the next day.

    Disliked:

The only thing missing in my opinion is a washing up point. Not a huge issue for us as we managed without, but if we were staying longer it would have been helpful.

A stunning farmland site, that is sure to become one of our faves. Peaceful, immaculate essential amenities and a lovely welcome from Sue. The site had lots of space for our tent to pitch up. Surrounded by lovely farmlands to explore and get back to nature, a great stay for us.

Absolute gem of a campsite in a beautiful location just outside of Worcester. We arrived at the farm and Sue met us straight away, took us to the site and told us about the local area. She was really friendly and made us feel totally at ease. When we asked about a hiring a fire pit, she made one out of an old chimney and gave it to us with some wood for free! She really went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely evening. The toilets had just been pressure washed, and there are several taps around the field for drinking water. We can't recommend highly enough and will definitely be back!

Local attractions

While Malvern Hills is known for its trails and summits, down in the towns, there’s a different buzz. Once a spa village, Great Malvern (20 minutes) has arts and crafts activities, galleries and boutique shops, while in Upton upon Severn (25 minutes), you may hire out a boat for the river Severn.

Looking for a little history too? Well, the birthplace of Sir Edward Elgar at The Firs: Elgar’s Birthplace (five minutes) is close by, while Witley Court and Gardens (15 minutes) opens the doors to a ruined mansion and former manor house. A little further out but worth it for its meddlesome maze and 15th-century castle is Hampton Court Castle (45 minutes).

Those of you with steam still remaining may want to flock to Wyre Forest (35 minutes), where Go Ape and bicycle hire will surely get your blood pumping. For more wildlife havens, Lickey Hills Country Park (35 minutes) has more walking and cycling trails and the West Midland Safari Park (45 minutes) has a delicious drive-through safari park.

Of course, the city is close by too, as Worcester (10 minutes) has museums, shops and an ancient cathedral for an afternoon of sightseeing.

Must see

  • Worcester Cathedral (4.4 kilometres)
  • Royal Worcester Visitor Centre (4.5 kilometres)
