When it’s time to immerse yourself in dramatic Staffordshire countryside, it’s time to head for Hole Carr Barn Campsite, a simple and peaceful pop-up site surrounded by the valleys and woodlands of the Peak District National Park. Located just off a quiet main road, the family-friendly pitches are easy to find and accessible without needing a four-wheel drive. The neatly mown camping field slopes in places, but there are level spots so choose where you want to be. You can join a number of walking and cycling trails directly from the pitches, while landmark The Roaches gritstone cliffs are 10 minutes’ drive away. If your holiday style includes a pub lunch or a mooch around a market, Leek and Buxton are within 15 minutes by car. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are well behaved and kept on a leash at all times, as there is livestock in the neighbouring field. The site owners kindly ask that you clean up after them. Simple facilities include waste disposal on site, portable toilets and running water, but please note that it’s off-grid, which means no showers or electricity. Due to the hilly terrain, it’s not suitable for caravans.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.
  • Please note that the toilet facilities are unisex.
