  • Small family-run glamping site with lovely Shropshire Hills views
  • A 15-minute drive to Ironbridge; 25 minutes to Shrewsbury
  • Luxury bathroom, kitchen and private outdoor space for each unit
Set off for a stay at School Farm Holidays and you’ll be able to take in some rather stunning views from some rather comfortable and stylish outdoor accommodation. This small family-run site between Shrewsbury and Telford is up at the top end of the Shropshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and it makes a lovely place for a break with your partner, your family or a small group of friends. Accommodation here is in characterfully designed glamping units that have been well thought out for comfort and convenience – each one has full central heating, a luxury bathroom with unlimited hot water, and a well-equipped kitchen (with fridge freezer, oven, hob, microwave and all the crockery, cutlery and pans you’ll need to rustle up a few meals). Bed linen and towels are provided, and there’s good wifi to help you keep in touch with the outside world. You’ll catch glimpses of the views from inside your accommodation, but you’ll no doubt want to spend some time out in the open too – and that’s been made similarly comfortable as each unit has been allocated its own private outdoor space with a firepit/barbecue, pergola and outdoor eating area. That’s not to say that you have to see the scenery from a static position – you can easily take a stroll around the working farm, which has acres of open fields, orchards and a brook to explore and sheep and pygmy goats to meet. There are some great walks to be had nearby too, either in the immediate area around the farm or further afield at top spots like Carding Mill Valley and the Wrekin (which you can spot from the farm).

Rabbit 2 bedroom camping pod (four person)

Liked: The pod was well appointed and not overlooked by other pods nearby - the views were stunning as were the lovely goats and the re-wilding field leading to the stream. The pod had everything you could ask for and more. The games room was also a good addition meaning if it was raining there was still things that you could do. I will certainly be returning.

Disliked: Nothing at all apart from the weather (cannot hold the owners responsible for that!)

Hedgehog 1 bedroom camping pod (four person)

Liked: We LOVED everything about School Farm Holidays! The location is great - it's off the beaten track in a tiny hamlet consisting of a few houses and a little church - and the views are stunning. Each morning I would look out to the Wrekin (a landmark hill in Shropshire) across beautiful lush rolling countryside. Sunsets were magical. But perhaps the most fantastic thing were the 'pods' themselves. We stayed in Squirrel, which has two bedrooms. We were a group of 4 adults, and at no time did it seem squashed. The kitchen has a gas stove/oven, microwave, hot water on tap, fridge freezer, and every kind of utensil/crockery you would need. The shower was a walk in shower with instant hot water. There was a dinning table inside, which we didn't really use because there is an outside seating area with table and chairs! Next to the outside area there is a fire pit, which we didn't get chance to use either because we were busy exploring the area (which has such a lot to offer). Excellent free wifi too. Everything was exquisitely decorated, with a lot of attention and thought to make it the most pleasurable stay possible. Helen was absolutely charming and took time to answer questions and show us around. We stayed for four nights, but could have easily stayed there for a week or two. So much to do in the area, great hiking, historical sites, and such a comfortable place to stay. My wife and I were accompanied by our Canadian friends, who absolutely loved being in the green lush Shropshire countryside. I can't wait to go back.

This area is packed with lovely scenery, which you can spot from all sorts of scenic trails through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Places like Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (half an hour’s drive) are the most well known spots but you should be able to find plenty of equally scenic and quieter paths around the area too. There’s also lots of interesting history around to discover too – from the birthplace of the modern Olympics at Much Wenlock (10 minutes) to the birthplace of Charles Darwin in Shrewsbury (25 minutes). You can also easily have a full day out at Ironbridge (15 minutes), which is a World Heritage Site full of museums and attractions. National Trust properties are plentiful in this pretty area too, whether you stay on the English side of the border for trips to Benthall Hall and Attingham Park (both 15 minutes) or cross over into Wales to check out Powis Castle (50 minutes).
