  • Adults-only site steps from the Shropshire Union Canal
  • Alderford Lake five minutes' drive; Market Drayton 25 minutes
  • Canalside for dog walks; on-site fishing and a café
If you had thoughts on an ideal setting for a hol between England and Wales, Hadley Park might well be it. It's in the Shropshire countryside on the border with Wales, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, and a handsomely scenic walk from Whitchurch, Shropshire's oldest market town. Hadley Park is a family-owned and run site that's set up for adults only. It has a small pond where guests can fish for a small fee per rod (maximum of two rods), a big sundeck overlooking the pond, and a fully licensed on-site café serving fresh local produce. You can also have your hair smartened up in the Hadley Park salon: just enquire when booking using the details in your booking confirmation email. Amenities include a launderette and a washing-up area; there's also a chemical disposal point, and a modern well-kept toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. The park is adults-only and welcomes well-behaved dogs. A service station with fast food and coffee outlet is 400 yards away.

What customers say

This adult-only spot offers a quiet getaway. Clean loos & showers are a big plus. Easy canal-side walks to Whitchurch, a handy cafe & dog-friendly. Road noise & pitch conditions were mentioned, but things are improving. Great value, friendly vibe & a lovely setting. Highly recommended!

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Everything the pitches had plenty of space .
the toilets were clean and warm.
The indoor washing up room with a washer & dryer was very useful, as we had a wet weekend.

Disliked If I had to .
just the ladies toilet seats were annoying the lids just would not stay up ..
More annoying than a dislike ..

Randolf camping pod (no pets)

Liked The pod is wonderful, cosy and has TV, Kettle, plates, tea, etc. I love the communal showers, toilets. They are super clean, keypad access and the best part is the music through the speakers. Excellent cafe and staff are so helpful. I am looking forward to returning soon. They have a shared fridge, Microwave and washing facilities. I think the washing machine needs change for use.

The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. I can compare prices for the dates we travelled to Irish prices. It was cheaper to get a low cost flight to Manchester, travel by train to Whitchurch, walk or take the 146 bus, my 3 nights in the pod then it was to stay in similar pods In Ireland.

Well done to Dawn and the team.

Non-electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Very nice campsite. We had a lovely view of a lake and the fountain in the lake. Showers are very good, hot water and in a spacious room. Very clean. The cafe was great for breakfast. An enjoyable stay.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

It was tricky finding our pitch when we arrived. Adding pitch numbers from/to the main signs would help.

The Little Barn camping pod (no pets)

Liked I chose the Barn. It was lovely, quirky and cosy. The shower rooms were kept clean and the area felt warm to change in. The lake with the water feature was a joy to sit and have breakfast. It’s great that there’s picnic benches. My daughter has booked with husband next month. We will stay again. Oh there is a cafe close by that has great food at affordable prices

Disliked It’s not a dislike really But just be aware there’s a little further to walk to the loo from barn. I’m still booking it next year thi

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Site was very clean, flat and well maintained. Apart from the busy road noise now and then it is a lovely tranquil site with the canal running behind it. Facilities are very good with secure dog exercise area and the toilet and showers are top rate, immaculately clean and well maintained with lovely hot water and even music piped in when anyone enters the toilet, shower block. Would have to go a long way to find better. Only stayed the one night but will definitely go back for a longer stay in the future.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

Staying close to home from Hadley Park, the old Shropshire town of Whitchurch is less than a mile away, and the walks of the Sandstone Trail as well as the hacks of the Bishop Bennet Way are easily accessible via the Shropshire and Union Canal on site. Elsewhere, several famed Shropshire and Cheshire sights are within 20 miles of the park, like Chester Cathedral and the city's Roman ruins and amphitheatre; Chester Zoo and Chester Racecourse; the fab follies of Hawkestone Park, and the llamas, alpacas and 50 acres of greenery of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. Nearby Shrewsbury is famed for its annual flower show and for its Darwin Trail commemorating the life and work of evolution dude Charles Darwin who was born in the town. More modernly, a good range of plays are held at the new Severn Theatre and several riverside pubs and restaurants are around at which to while the night away. The bars, cafés and independent shops of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Llangollen are within driving distance: other top town picks are a picnic in Riverside Park, a stroll along Victoria Promenade, and a steam straight ahead on the Llangollen Railway.
