  • Glampsite on a Shropshire farm 20 minutes’ drive from Shrewsbury
  • Wroxeter Roman City 20 minutes’ drive and Ironbridge 35 minutes
  • Accommodation in a converted horse box with exclusive-use bathroom
Now living its best life as bijou glamping accommodation in Shropshire countryside, The Hay Vacay is a cleverly renovated horse box set on a working sheep farm. At 20 minutes’ drive from Shrewsbury, it can sleep up to four guests and has a fully enclosed private garden with a hammock for relaxing while soaking up the rural views. Inside, the kitchen corner is kitted out with the essentials (kettle, toaster, air fryer, hob and fridge) for making simple meals, and there’s a barbecue and firepit for alfresco cooking. Guests receive a welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar and milk, and washing-up liquid, tea towels and so on are under the sink. Steps away from the horse box is a private shower room in a converted trailer. Walkers will be pleased to hear that footpaths wend their way across the farm, and it’s less than five minutes on foot to join The Shropshire Way – OS maps are provided. There’s a village shop in Dorrington (five minutes’ drive), and supermarkets in Shrewsbury, plus several pubs and takeaways (the latter collection only) within 10 minutes by car. Rules of the site: dogs are welcome, but keep them under control due to the livestock. Please keep noise to a minimum after 9pm, and on leaving, put waste into the outside bins. Recycling boxes are provided for paper, cardboard and glass bottles.
