Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Small, friendly site with excellent, clean facilities. Friendly welcome, great little dog walk and bridleway running past the site. Some road noise, but quietened down at night, so no problem. Brilliant location for exploring the area or as a stop on the way to North Wales. Will be returning!

Disliked: Nothing, although the music in the toilet block was a little unusual!

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Close to A5 Between Shrewsbury and Oswestry, easy to tow a van to. Flat level spacious pitches so easy to park and hook up. Quiet park but has everything that a base needs. We visited nearly nearby Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall stunning views and the amazing Lake Vyrnwy reservoir. Very helpful staff and enjoyed our 2 night short break

Disliked: The site can’t be held responsible for this but the late evening helicopter buzzing round wasn’t good (nearby military base)

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The friendly and helpful manager and his assistant. A clean and great value site. When I asked the manager if there was a short-cut to walk to the nearest pub, he stopped what he was doing and gave my friend and I a lift there. Only a couple of miles, but customer service, above and beyond! Cheers

Local attractions

Shropshire’s absolutely stacked with things to do – outdoorsy activities, museums, castles, arty attractions, theatres, shops… If you’re blinded by choice or need a bit of inspiration, who better to ask than the folk on site, local experts who’ll happily dole out a bit of advice. Among the top picks they might point you towards are the splendid estates of Attingham Park (20 minutes’ drive), a National Trust property where you can paddle canoes or frolic in the Field of Play, and Weston Park (40 minutes), to stroll through gardens designed by the famed Capability Brown. Those Roman visitors left a bit of stuff behind when they moved on, and you can see their style on a trip to Wroxeter Roman City (20 minutes). This area was central to more recent history too – notably at Ironbridge (35 minutes), birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site packed with fab museums and family-friendly attractions. If you’re in the company of kids (or indeed grownups) fascinated by all things that move, pack them into the car for the 40-minute drive to see the planes at the Royal Air Force Museum or to take a steam-driven ride on the Severn Valley Railway from Bridgnorth.
