Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: I loved how beautiful and clean this site was. The grounds and surrounding views were stunning. Toilets and showers were spotless, shower was hot and powerful. The owner was lovely and welcoming, always about if needed. He has a lot of love for animals and has rescued plenty over the years, that for me was a big hit as I adore animals. The little zoo he has going is fantastic. We as a family loved cuddling and feeding the beautiful donkeys. We all loved our stay and will definitely be back again.

Disliked: Play area could be better but I know the owner is updating it at present. Still plenty of things for kids to play with.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The atmosphere and site, ways near was friendly and accommodating and couldn't do enough for us. The site is well kept and clean and very pretty.

Disliked: The pitches are quite steep and had to use some planks to even us out (but Wayne had plenty to help with this) The children's play park needs a little tlc but again that Is on the agenda for next year.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Everything. Fantastic welcome from Wayne. Spotless little site, peaceful, beautifully kept. Showers and toilets were too. It's a real find, we will be regulars from now on. Water on each pitch and the pay at the end electric meter on your pitch worked out cheaper. 2 nights stay £3.80 total Brilliant

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: We absolutely loved the owner! He was a great character and so helpful . The site was so clean , Grounds are very tidy . Pitches are all level. On a Saturdays he has a take away and anyone who wants one he will order and collect for you. I would highly recommend.

Disliked: Lanes leading up to camp site but saying that there was enough pull ins for it not to be an issue . Has no signal at all on my phone 3

Local attractions

This part of Shropshire is brimming over with history. Start with an exploration of the ruins and reconstructions at the Wroxeter Roman city, Viriconium, 15 minutes’ drive from Walnut Cottage Caravan Park, then jump forward a thousand years or so for something more recent: at the birthplace of the industrial revolution in Ironbridge Gorge, 20 minutes away, wander through Blists Hill Victorian Town, learn about the history of iron in the Coalbrookdale Museum and cross the first cast-iron bridge in the world. There are plenty of stately homes and (formerly) impregnable fortresses nearby: the 13th-century Stokesay Castle is 30 minutes from Walnut Cottage, and the spectacular Attingham Park, Wilderhope Manor and Benthall Hall are all within 20 minutes of the site. The local towns are no slouches either: Church Stretton, the only town within the Shropshire Hills AONB, dates back to Norman times; Much Wenlock is home to a precursor to the modern Olympic Games, and the Wenlock Olympian Games are still held every year; and Shrewsbury was the birthplace of the Origin of Species’ Charles Darwin. For a break from history, hire a raft for a tour at Ironbridge Gorge, take to the slopes at the snowboarding and skiing centre in Telford, or get muddy at Severn Valley Quad Trekking, all within 35 minutes of Walnut Cottage.
