Woodlands Lodge Park: Woodland walk

General

  • Well-equipped family lodge on a quiet Shropshire park
  • Two miles from Bridgnorth and eight from Ironbridge
  • Fishing and woodland walks on site; activity centre 15 minutes' drive

Family time, fresh air and fishing – sound like a tempting recipe for your hols? Then set forth for the Shropshire countryside and a cosy stay at Woodlands Lodge Park.

That family time can be spent out and about exploring your scenic surrounds or cosied up in your smart lodge, which comes kitted out with a well-equipped kitchen, a dining table to gather round and a comfy sofa for TV evenings. If it's a fine day, you might even venture out onto your private deck to soak up a bit of sunshine...

The fresh air aspect is up to you: take a wander in the woods just by the park or expand your horizons to lengthy hikes in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty, around a 20-minute drive away. Rafting, quad biking and kayaking are among the options for more adventurous individuals; steam railway rides and historic amblings in Ironbridge beckon for gentler souls.

And the fishing? It's right there on site. Cross the palms of the owners with a few coins and they’ll give you access to their fine fishing lake, stocked with carp, perch, rudd, tench, eels and bream.

Successful day at the lake? You’ll need something to toast your skills with. Not so much? Then maybe you’ll need a consolatory drink. Either way, the necessary supplies are two miles away at the pubs and supermarkets of Bridgnorth.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Facilities/activities including fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The property is not suitable for wheelchairs users as there are three external steps.

We really liked staying here. We loved the location, the lodge and can't fault anything. We would like to come back and stay for longer next time. The cabin is one of the nicest places i have stayed in. It will be great to go back and do some more exploring. The lodge is far enough out the way to be very peaceful but there is a lot nearby within a short drive. We hired a 3 man Kayak in Ironbridge which was loads of fun and ate out of few times in Telford, Ironbridge and Bridgenorth

Loved everything about Woodlands Lodge. A very homely lodge with friendly owners. It was a very clean accommodation, with some nice personal touches on arrival. Debbie and Phil are the perfect hosts, as in they leave you alone to enjoy your break , but are never far away if needed ( not that we did )! We will definitely return.
The only thing that could have made it better was the weather !
Highly recommended for a peaceful break .

    Great welcome
Nice and clean comfortable beds and furniture
    Really quite and friendly place
We all said we would book again next year if we are back in that area

    Disliked:

Outside lighting on the decking area would be nice as the weather was warm into the night

I think a onsite bbq would be a nice touch

From the manager...

Thank you for your review, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, I will address the lighting on the decking area and the broken table.

Not sure why the score of 2/10 was given for child friendliness when no children in your party, hope this doesn't put families off for booking as all previous bookings with families gave 10/10 score and said it was fantastic place for children.

Our stay at woodland lodge was one of the best cabin weekend away we had so far. Debbie and Phil has decorated the cabin with so much love and attention to detail! The cabin comes fully stocked with everything you could possibly need, we cooked a full Christmas dinner and we could find everything to make it a joyful cooking experience.
When entering the cabin you can see that everything was done with love, the seating is placed perfect to enjoy the fire place with a splendid view of the woodlands.
This cabin has truly exceeded our expectations!
We have already planned our next stay.
Thank you to Debbie and Phill for their creative welcoming nature and the perfect friend’s Christmas we would wish for.
    See you soon.

Quiet location & well presented. Debbie & Phil are very attentive, ensuring all was ok, giving advice on things to do locally & ensuring the little things that are useful in a holiday rental are all there - tea/coffee/milk, juice for kids, dried herbs/salt/pepper, dishwasher tabs - you get the idea.
Kids loved the lake area for playing imaginatively.

Local attractions

Don’t be thinking of Bridgnorth as just a handy place to pick up food (although the Saturday market is particularly fine for that ). It’s also a splendid place for a stroll, with castle ruins to explore, riverbanks to roam along and a funicular to ride between the two halves of town (a rare sight away from the sea).

The town's also the starting point for steam-powered rides on the Severn Valley Railway, and there are more nods to the area’s past over in Ironbridge (20 minutes’ drive). The birthplace of the Industrial Revolution is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and packed with museums including a hands-on science centre, china and iron museums and a living, breathing Victorian town (complete with traditional sweet shop, the small sorts will no doubt be happy to hear).

If you’re seeking some outdoorsy action, aim for The Edge Adventure Activity Centre (15 minutes) to get pulses raised with days of clay pigeon shooting, rafting, canoeing and quad biking. Alternatively, give your hiking boots a good old workout with a walk on Wenlock Edge (20 minutes) or a selected chunk of the Shropshire Way (it’s 200 miles long, so you may not want to do that all in one go…).

Must see

  • Much Wenlock Priory (8.8 kilometres)
  • Enginuity (9.0 kilometres)
  • Ironbridge Gorge Museums (9.3 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Dudmaston Estate (8.3 kilometres)
  • Wilderhope Manor (14.8 kilometres)
