Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great location. Small camping area with all plots having a view of the climbing frame which made looking after my son a lot easier. Facilities are very nice. It has everything you could need. Staff are very friendly and polite as well as very accommodating.

Disliked: Main road is loud at night but not much can be done with that I know it is nit picking.

Fantastic site kids absolutely loved it. They cried when we wanted to take them out for the evening to the arcades they was enjoying the site so much. Can't wait to return next year.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Small site ideal for children to navigate around Friendly and approachable owners Site was not rowdy at night. Very quiet. Except road. Large pitch Grass mowed frequently. Close to Skegness albeit on the side of Skegness which can have a lot of traffic Close to good choice of supermarkets Shower and toilet blocks look new Level pitches Grandchildren had an amazing holiday as this site is small and gave them freedom to go around.

Disliked: Site right next to main road which is very busy and very noisy. Traffic did die down after 11pm but started again around 5am. Really noisy if you’re in a tourer caravan. Tents positioned a bit further back so may be little less noisy in this area. This was not mentioned by other reviewers so we accept this may not be an issue to all. Drinking water tap positioned right next to the Elsan point! We did not use this one for obvious reasons. No protection around other drinking water taps and we actually saw 2 dogs being walked and the owners allowed them to pee up the points. I did speak to one owner who said it’s ok the water comes out of the tap! Waste water disposal point has no clean water flushing availability and all stale water and food collects round the point as no means to flush it clean. This is a very dirty smelly point. Definitely needs the means for users to wash down after emptying waste water. Rubbish bins constantly overflowing with rubbish left at the side of them. No options to recycle. Evidence of rodents as there are traps laid around this area. The rubbish bins, elsan point and waste water point are situated in the centre of the site and are smelly. Drinking water points grubby and the one by our van even had the remains of Childrens jelly sweets stuck to it ?? The drinking water points need some form of protection around them. Whilst we would not stay here again due to the lack of site maintenance and the road noise we appreciate our grandchildren had an amazing holiday.

From the manager: Hi Debra Thank you for your review. We are sorry you found us lacking and not up to your high standards. I'd just like to clarify a few points especially regarding your comments suggesting we are a dirty run down site. All our water points are well above ground and are all as per regulation. Some are within a brick enclosure. There is a clear separation between the elsan tap point and the fresh water point if you didn't like the look of it that's ok too. As the brown waste point is a soak away we appreciate this can become a little funky but there is a water point a few steps away for your use. As for bins.. yes at times they overflowed often not because they were full but due to lazy guest just dropping rubbish on closed bins or not using bins bags. Bins are regularly emptied. As for rodents.. yes we have traps as do all sites it's all part of a sensible vermin control contract not because we are overrun with rats. We are happy to hear your grandchildren had fun though. We wish you happy caravanning

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Clean and tidy

Disliked: We were put by long grass so ended up getting bitten really badly and ended up with infected insect bites on antibiotics and then had to come home early and leave our tent as they had put us on a ants nest and tent was over run with them when we asked for help owners werent interested

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello Shirley, many thanks for taking the time to leave your review, however I would like to address a few points if I may. Lets start with the comments regarding how we placed you on an ants nest....Our camping fiels is surrounded by a farmers field as we are located in the countryside, hence the long grass. To suggest that we knew there was an ants nest and purposly place your tent on it is just nonsence. We can control a lot of things onsite, however we havent quite managed to take control of the natural wildlife. Also if we placed you on a nest, why did it take 6 days before this was brought to our attention?. On that note and the comments about us not being interested. Your partner first spoke to me about the issue on the evening of Friday 16th August, 6 days after you arrived. YES, 6 DAYS... I came to have a look at the tent a few minutes after speaking to him at which time I suggested that we could use some fly spray to kill the ants inside and move the tent. I came back with a can of flyspray a few minutes after looking at the tent and left it with you. The next I knew about your departure was some young children had picked up the can of fly spray which you irresponsibly disgarded and sprayed it over themselves causing a lot of tears and some pain to the children. In case you didnt know, flyspray is a poison and shouldnt be left for children to pick up. I will be passing on your details to the families of the children effected by your actions. Maybe in future you shouldnt book a campsite in the countryside, believe it or not, there is wildlife out there.......

Local attractions

Top Yard Farm is within easy travelling distance of Skegness, with its beach, pier and three-storey amusement arcade as well as non-seasidey town things like the National Parrot Sanctuary, Natureland Seal Sanctuary, Skegness Golf Centre and the Embassy Theatre. Bars, nightclubs and restaurants are plentiful too if you're sticking around in town into the night. On the edge of Skegness, running to the mouth of the Wash, is another famed Lincolnshire coastal spot in the Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve, home to gulls, waders and wildfowl around its lagoons, saltmarsh, dunes, foreshore and beach. The reserve has a visitor centre and a bird observatory, along with marked walks and trails. A little further north along the coast are other much-visited seaside towns in Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe; Ingoldmells and the Fantasy Island theme park are a few miles south. Inland, pick up food, antiques, souvenirs and more at Lincolnshire's market towns like Spilsby (nine miles), Alford (15 miles), Louth (20 miles) and Boston (20 miles).
