  • Well-presented site on a public footpath in rural Lincolnshire
  • Market Rasen and Lincoln city centre both 20 minutes' drive
  • Laundry room, information kiosk and dog exercise area
In need of some peace and quiet? Then look to Lincolnshire Lanes, a well-maintained spot in the centre of this gorgeous county. Surrounded by the splendidly peaceful English countryside and within 20 minutes' drive of all the attractions in Market Rasen and Lincoln city centre, this site really does have access to the best of both worlds. What is it like, then? Well, the first thing you'll probably notice is the size of the site – neither too big nor too small, and spread across well-drained, green and level land. Next, you'll probably turn to inspect the facilities – equally impressive, with a cosy kids' play hut, a laundry room and washrooms that are all very handy to have. Kids should find plenty of room to play outdoors, with Lincolnshire Lanes supplying goals and play equipment (ball games are allowed in the games area of the family field). As well as that, there's a den-making area and a craft and play hut. Bushcraft and forest school workshops run throughout the summer too (get in touch with the site team for more details). Dog owners, meanwhile, will likely appreciate having the site's small dedicated dog-walking area and easy access to footpaths. There's also an outdoor area for washing dogs and muddy boots. And nature fans? The trees on one side of the field are often frequented by local wildlife, so see what you’re able to spy over there. This family-run site is also a good pick for wild explores away from base, as it's located in a top spot for visiting the wild green spaces of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Getting out to roam is easy as the main field sits on a public footpath (which also happens to lead to a great local pub about 40 minutes' walk away). The site is located on the edge of the hamlet of East Firsby, so for shops and eats, you're closest to Welton, five minutes' drive away.

Conifer Corner Pitch electric grass pitch

Liked: We stayed in conifer corner and the woodland view was absolutely gorgeous, the toilet blocks were nice and close too which was an added benefit. The pitches were a very good size and we felt we had a good amount of privacy. Another benefit for us was the dog walk through the woods and the fact that this sight allows larger dogs as this was something we struggled to find at a lot of other sights when booking. The bricks available to borrow when using fire pits and bbqs were also a lovely touch that made our time easier.

Disliked: The ground was quite soft which made setting up more difficult but not impossible and we were unable to use the dog tether so had to attach his cable to the towing eye on one of the cars, but this was not a huge issue just a small inconvenience. The showers were not the nicest we’ve seen however this was not a big issue as we just didn’t use them. I completely understand the shortened hours of operation for the reception and shop, however we were a little disappointed to find that they were only open an hour in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening, but again this wasn’t a huge issue for us as we had the cars so just nipped into the town.

Rally Field non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Originally allocated a pitch far from the entrance, but were able to move to a more convenient location as we were out in the evening an didn't want to disturb family campers by driving through site after dark.

Rally Field non-electric grass pitch

Liked: What a lovely little site! We enjoyed our stay here, the littles with us enjoyed the playground and the den building area, and the play shed too - what a great idea!

Disliked: Nothing really. The shower cubicle area was a bit small for me and the little, but we made it work.

Conifer Corner Pitch electric grass pitch

Liked: The campsite itself is lovely. The lady who worked in the little shop and her partner were also lovely.

Disliked: The owner of the campsite talks to children in an appallingly vile manner. If your child brings a bike or scooter and can ride it faster than 5mph expect them to be spoken to like dirt. Meanwhile some cars are coming and going much faster than 5 mph and nothing is said. A tiny single point water heater to wash pots with, which when it is busy, is in constant use, which means you end up washing pots with cold water. The sinks in the toilets don't have hot water. The showers do have hot water but it is at a cost of 20p for 5 minutes. Although the toilets/showers are clean they are very dated and in desperate need of a revamp. There is a den building area which in theory is a brilliant idea, however, there are limited resources and some children expect their dens to last the whole visit and get upset when others dismantle them to make their own. The parents complain to the owners, then the owners are approaching people advising them to go and apologise rather than telling them everyone gets a turn. The owner also tried to charge us for our own bbq that we had brought. Ultimately if the owners have decided your faces don't fit you will be made to feel unwelcome. We couldn't wait to leave.

Conifer Corner Pitch electric grass pitch

Liked: Beautiful site, so relaxing and quiet. Owners are lovely people, facilities where great. Had a brilliant stay, this has now become our favourite site we have stayed at, and will definitely be looking at returning before it closes at the end of the season. Ground was ideal for camping nice and flat with no stones in the ground for your pegs to hit. Lovely walk in the woods with the dog.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Huge pitches really nice surroundings plenty for kids to do but also a fairly quiet place to relax shop is really good for kids with pick and mix sweets and icecream the pizza truck was there on our visit kids enjoyed the pizza the toilets/showers were regularly cleaned showers cost 20p which a lot of people were grumbling about but you get 5mins of water which seems reasonable

Disliked: WiFi would be a nice option as there’s no signal even phone signal was hard to get there I’d happily have payed a little extra for this

Local attractions

Here for the historic sites? Search for the historic Lincoln imp statue hidden within Lincoln Cathedral (20 minutes' drive). The coast? Take a trot on the beach at Cleethorpes (45 minutes) or see how you fare with watersports in Skegness (an hour and five minutes). The races? Market Rasen Racecourse is only 20 minutes’ drive away too. It may be that you’re looking to meet a few animals too. Rand Farm Park (20 minutes) has animals such as donkeys, pigs and lambs (when in season), while Hall Farm Park (25 minutes) has other creatures like ponies, goats and llamas. Woodside Wildlife Park 20 minutes) is a little on the wilder side; animals like penguins and tigers reside there. If you’d rather or test out your wildlife spotting skills out in the world, the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (20 minutes) is the place for that.
