Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Good quiet site, good facilities. Not too cramped.

Disliked: Pub was closed for our visit. By nature of the oub name yoy sort if assume when you book that you could get food there. Found out after booking and oaying fee that it was shut that day. Strange for a weekend too. Made alternative arrangements for dining.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely campsite behind pub. Toilet block was great with 3 shower rooms with double showers, basin and WC and lots of hooks to hang clothes etc.

Disliked: Only drawback with showers is that if someone is using another shower or water supply near by the shower reduces to a trickle of cold water! Need to be more powerful and reliable. Pub food menu was very limited .

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Potentially nice site

Disliked: Booked this site due to being a public house , potentially with food , with attached campsite , arrival times from 2pm , Arrived around 2.30/ 2.40 ish , Pub locked , no one around , no instructions left , only the cat was about , pub apparently only opens a few days a week , if we are made aware of this before hand would certainly not booked this site Left the site and stayed elsewhere,

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked: The tranquility and super friendly feeling of the place and owners \ staff. Food was yum - just what you need if you cba or want some company. Pitches level and coping well with all the water logging from rain. At night the owls were noisy but I love that. Loos and showers all clean and modern and functional. The little shop is a great idea.

Disliked: Not being able to stay longer, which is entirely my own doing

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Very friendly host, staff, and locals. The site and the pub are both dog friendly and our two dogs enjoyed the stay. The camping area is fenced and gated, which is a bonus for dogs owners. We understand the pub and campsite changed ownership at the end of last season and that we were the first to stay on the site since then. We ate in the pub in the evening and were welcomed by a warm fire. The menu is not large but the food was very enjoyable and good value. Despite being small (9 pitches), the site has all of the facilities you would expect and the showers are nice and hot, as each bathroom (toilet, sink and shower) is serviced by a thermostatic shower unit. Thank you.

Disliked: Nothing

Local attractions

Walking’s certainly one of the go-to pursuits around here, but what kind of trails will you be clobbering? For those long-distance routes, the 136-mile Wye Valley Walk (five minutes’ drive) passes hills and the river, while the 177-mile Offa's Dyke Path (15 minutes) traces the border between Wales and England. There are challenging mountain paths up in the Black Mountains (an hour and 20 minutes) and for easier-going walking or cycling routes through village landscapes, the Black and White Trail (five minutes) should fit the bill. Of course, the Brecon Beacons National Park (50 minutes) is another hiking hub, but other outdoor activities are in full flow here too, from caving to gorge walking. When you fancy sprinkling some history into your stay, Arthur's Stone (10 minutes) has a decent helping, in the form of a Neolithic tomb linked to King Arthur. Hay-on-Wye (10 minutes) has a castle, or there are museums dotted around Hereford (20 minutes), a nice pairing with a distillery trip or shopping outing. And to round off your historical route, perhaps the National Trust’s The Weir Garden (10 minutes) might serve as a digestif, as this historic garden was once under Roman settlement.
