General

  • Yurt glamping experience on the edge of the Cotswolds
  • Less than a mile from the local pub; 10 minutes' drive from Stroud
  • Covered outdoor kitchen, spacious decking area and excellent views

Located on the side of gorgeous Selsley Common, The Teasel Yurts have a spacious decking area that looks out over the Severn Vale and Stroud Hills – a most impressive view indeed.

Inside, the accommodation (which can sleep up to a maximum of five) comes fully furnished, with both bed linen and towels provided. There's a woodburning stove in the unit to keep things cosy, plus a covered outdoor kitchen with a gas burner, barbecue/firepit, sink and coolbox. The yurt has no electricity but there is a solarhub to power the lights and to charge phones.

The accommodation is within easy walking distance of the award-winning Bell Inn pub in Selsley, and there's a supermarket five minutes' drive away. This Gloucestershire glamping site is also an easy two miles from Stroud, an attractive market town with a Saturday farmers' market, an artisan/street food market and an ever-popular selection of great cafés, pubs and restaurants.

This hassle-free alternative to traditional pitch-your-own camping is set on the western edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and as such has easy access to all sorts of walks, bike rides and other rural outings. This spot is also an excellent base for city day trips to Cheltenham (30 minutes), Bristol (40 minutes) and Bath (50 minutes).

I’ve stayed in numerous Yurts over the years and Bear’s set up is the best I’ve stayed in. Immaculate inside and excellent outside set up. The decking with the views toward the Severn estuary and towards the Cotswolds was a particular treat. The location was good practically for my young family, although not typically remote this was not to the detriment of quality of our stay. It was peaceful enough during the evenings inside and out. My youngest loved the hammock too! Provisions inside and outside the yurt were more than I expected, which was a nice touch.

This site was a great place to experience the outdoors without having to bring all the paraphernalia normally associated with camping. All the equipment was provided and included plates, pots, cutlery, barbecue, bedding, stove, etc and of course the yurt - which was huge. Having your own toilet and shower was a bonus.

Me and the kids loved it - the playing field with footbal nets was perfect.

    Disliked:

Only a couple of negative points about this site: the distance from the car park to the yurt was quite long and uneven - wouldn't be suitable for wheelchair users or the elderly; there was quite a lot of traffic noise from what must have been a nearby busy road - didn't feel like being in the wilderness.

But these didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay.

The views were outstanding and the location was great. The kitchen was well equipped and having our own bathroom was brilliant. The yurt was very comfortable and well maintained. We had a wonderful stay and my daughter especially enjoyed the fire pit and hammock. Bear was great with the recommendations of things to do in the area and we can highly recommend the Bell Inn for a lovely meal out.

Teasel Yurt is beautifully set on the edge of the hill looking west to get the most of the incredible sunsets. It is well equipped and very comfortable. The woodburner provides amble heat on chilly nights.
It is a short walk up the hill from the parking space but we liked how it felt separate and private (we were the only visitors while we were there).
The solar lighting is perfect and the whole atmosphere just 'right'.
The bathroom block is great- hot showers on demand and the open air kitchen has everything you might need. There is no fridge but the cold box is large and with shops being nearby this was not an issue.
    It is great value.
    We loved our stay.

I stayed at this place for three nights with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

It is a quiet and clean little getaway hidden in the hills with an amazing view, surrounded by nature.

There are also various things inside (hot water bottles, clothes racks, chopped wood for the fireplace etc) and outside the yurt (kitchen equipment etc) to make the stay a comfortable one.

There are plenty of nature walks in the surrounding area, and it is also close enough to the town centre and a Sainsbury's, so getting supplies is easy.

The venue's host was also great and very helpful.

    Disliked:

The water in the shower doesn't stay hot for long - it goes cold pretty quickly, then heats up again - so basically be quick.

And the solar hub doesn't provide much charge, so it would be advisable to bring a power bank.

We had the most amazing time at the Teasel Yurts - could not recommend it enough! The yurt is incredibly well stocked with everything you'll need for the weekend (including the kitchen, which has a gas burning stove and all the basics you need to cook), so you just need to bring yourself and some food and wine. It's nearby several amazing walks and pubs, and only a 45 stroll into Stroud (which you can get to almost completely by footpaths instead of walking on the road). Bear, our host, was really responsive and flexible and made the trip perfect for us.

We liked Absolutely everything, especially the magnificent views. The host is so friendly and helpful. He’s thought of everything to make your stay really comfortable, great quality bedding, sleep masks, lots of towels, fuel for the fire, everything you need for the kitchen. It’s such a beautiful, secluded spot with gorgeous sunsets. The bathroom is great, lovely big shower with plenty of hot water. The beds are really comfortable. We even got a helpful “things to do email” before we arrived and there is something for everyone in the area. Our children absolutely loved it. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and can’t wait to book again soon.

The location and the views were amazing. Beautiful sunsets. The yurt and kitchen and toilet/shower was kitted out really well. Relatively tight fit with the extra bed (making 5), but we had sunny weather and we're outside for most of the time. Great communication from the owner and a very useful list of things to do and see. Would recommend.

Happy with whole experience, great yurt with amazing views. Really well built and really thought through. Was great to have your own separate shower, toilet and sitting area outside on the decking. Lovely bbq area and fire pit which was great at night to chill outside. Inside the yurt was really nice, bed was comfortable and the log fire made it really cosy at night.
