  • Peaceful, dog-friendly farm site two miles from Moreton-in-Marsh
  • A 10-minute drive to Sezincote Estate; half an hour to Blenheim Palace
  • Firepits for hire; walks, cycling and pubs nearby; barbecues allowed
Step into the splendid Gloucestershire countryside and set up camp just two miles from the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With Pebbly Barn Farm as your base, fab far-reaching views are a given, as is a warm welcome into a peaceful retreat where well-behaved dogs are welcomed on leads and adventures in the Cotswolds are within easy reach… Once you’ve pitched up your tent in the roomy fields here, set off on the walking and cycling trails in the surrounding area (some of them begin very close by). You could make off to Moreton-in-Marsh's antique emporiums, tearooms, art galleries and delis, half an hour’s walk away, or time your visit right for the town’s Tuesday open-air market. With the Four Shire Stone on the outskirts of the town, another option is standing in the old meeting point of the four counties of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire (cool, huh?) There's also plenty of scopes for tasty dinnertimes, with cafés, restaurants and pubs (including a couple rumoured to be past haunts of the author J.R.R. Tolkien) on the town high street and barbecues permitted on site (on a proper stand to protect the grass). As for when the sun goes down, there are firepits for hire on site. The facilities here include toilets, showers and a handy dishwashing area, all close to the peaceful pitches. And though it may be rural, you won't be cut off here as Moreton-in-Marsh’s train station has routes to London and Cheltenham and bus services go to many Cotswold towns and villages.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Very well kept site with spacious pitches and a friendly welcome. There are 3 unisex toilets, 2 unisex showers and a washing up station on site which were cleaned regularly during the weekend. This was my second time staying and I will definitely return again. Walking to Moreton took us just under an hour on a gentle stroll.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike, excellent site

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Very spacious, clean facilities and the ability to pay £15 to get a fire pit/bbq with wood delivered to the pitch was fun!

Disliked: Too few toilets and showers, leading to queues at certain times (not so fun when it's chilly!).

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to review our site. We very much appreciate your positive feedback about our clean facilities. We love that you enjoyed our fire pit, they really add something special to the camping experience. We were a little busier than usual over the Bank Holiday Weekend, which did cause a little bit of queuing for the facilities, we apologise for any discomfort this caused to your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back next Summer.

Great site but lacks suitable/acceptable facilities.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Great site with friendly and organised staff.

Disliked: Sadly the lack of sufficient/acceptable facilities lets it down. There are just three unisex toilets and two unisex showers for all pitches (possibly up to 100 pitches) on the site. This meant we were always queueing whatever the time of day/evening. Also there was not enough hot water to service these facilities and with basins only in the toilet cubicles, this meant in the morning, people were washing in the WC cubicles rather queue for a cold shower, while others were queueing outside in the wind and rain desperate for toilet. Would stay there again but only with own facilities.

From the manager: Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to review our site. We are a small family run seasonal popup site, and we open for the weekends from May to September, and the full month of August. As a pop up site, we are only permitted to have 50 pitches at any given time, these pitches can be a mix of tents, campervans, and motorhomes. Our lovely spacious campsite field is quite large, and could accommodate a lot more pitches, however, we do not go over 50, as our unique individual pop up facilities are limited. We also find that our guests like the large open space as it allows more privacy during their stay. Unfortunately, over the August bank holiday weekend, our hot water boiler failed. We tried our hardest to get it fixed, however, we were unsuccessful due to it being a holiday weekend. Please accept our apologies for this failure and any discomfort this caused to your stay. We appreciate your positive comments about the cleanliness of our facilities, and we will certainly think about your suggestion for our next season. We are excited to announce that we do have plans to add and enhance our facilities for next year, we hope you will come back and try them out.

Local attractions

Where can a 10-minute car ride get you? It turns out, a lot of places. There’s the dog-friendly plant centre and café at the 56-acre Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre (10 minutes’ drive), flying displays from falcons, eagles and other birds of prey at the Cotswold Falconry Centre (10 minutes) or the splendid 18th-century gardens at Bourton House Garden (10 minutes). Sezincote House (10 minutes) is another of those close-by spots and a rare authentic Mughal palace with a house and tea room – get there on foot if you wish by following the local Moreton Eight walk near the site. With the World Heritage Site of Blenheim Palace (half an hour) and the National Trust’s Chastleton House (10 minutes) close by too, there are many more options to have a nose around additional historic buildings. When you’re ready for some animal life, Cotswold Farm Park’s rare breeds, outdoor play and bouncy pillows (20 minutes) are likely to be a hit with the kids, or perhaps a peaceful picnic by the river Windrush in Bourton-on-the-Water (20 minutes) will do, with Birdland the prize attraction here.
