Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Great site with really good, clean facilities- they even have dishwashers! We particularly enjoyed the bar/cafe and the pizzas, it was so relaxing sitting outside near the lakes in the sun. The staff were fantastic, every interaction was positive and friendly. I really liked the fact you pay the same fee for all tent pithces, and if you want EHU you just pay as you go. We ended up only spending 70p on electric and they refunded us what we didn't use. If you want a relaxing, back to nature site, with lovely views this is the one for you.

Disliked: Nothing- we can't wait to come back

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Excellent facilities at the campsite (bar, bathroom and washing up area). Electricity is paid by meter so you generally pay far less (approx £1 per day) than if you booked a pitch at a campsite where electricity was already included in the cost.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Great location , good size pitch. Facilities were well maintained. Loved the cafe, was really handy as didn’t do bbq. Pizza was lush! Had kids with us, so was an added bonus to find a park on site. We also loved walking around to see all the animals!

Disliked: Although we loved the cafe and pizza, felt could use a few more hands. Got very busy as certain times and long waits for food. Also a bit more of a choice for food, pizza and some sides.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Lovely site with plenty of space between pitches. As a family we loved the querk of one field being in England and the other Wales. Basic facilities in terms of showers and toilets but they did the job and were generally clean. Communal fridge and freezer was handy. Also available at a cost was washing machine, dryer and dish washer which is a bonus if needed. Staff were really friendly and the bar / cafe was very reasonably price and a brilliant option on site. Breakfast was delicious and handy for day of departure. The site is dog friendly and they loved seeing all of the animals on site. The location is brilliant with lots of options within a short drive.

Disliked: Only downside was the bin area was overflowing for a few days - maybe it was close to bin day when we stayed or just a very busy period. Didnt affect our stay and would definitely recommend this site and would stay again if in the area.

Local attractions

Straight from the rear of the site are several woodland walks, one of which takes guests past the Broad Stone after which Broadstone Park was named. Others cover part of Offa's Dyke and walks to Monmouth, the River Wye and local viewpoints like famed Symonds Yat: ask the site team for their faves to follow. Also in the area are heritage options like Caldicot Castle and the Clearwell Caves, and the buildings and pleasure grounds of the Kymin, highly praised by one Admiral Nelson (take the trek up to the Round House for the best views). Many other walks, cycle paths and swinging around in the trees at Go Ape are in the Forest of Dean, easily accessible from the site, and both Monmouth and Coleford are around 15 minutes' drive away for more urbanised days out.
