Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Beautiful location.

Disliked: Facilities could be improved. Shower/toilet block is very basic and could be cleaner. Facility for emptying toilets and waste water isn't fit for purpose. It is expensive considering the state of it.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Pretty much everything! Choice of fields to pitch up in. I loved that it’s part of a working farm. The pizza and breakfast vans are a really nice touch too

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Toilet facilities were really clean and the views from the lower fields in the campsite were stunning! There were several food vans that visited the campsite. Pizza in the evening and breakfast rolls in the morning. What’s not to love!?

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great site friendly staff. Was serving dinner and breakfast while we was there. Lovely toilets set in a great location. Use off fire pits a very good option.

Disliked: Although shower cubicles are individual and are closed off with a door that locks the changing area to get dressed and put your stuff isn’t closed off from the shower itself so I found water got all over my stuff while showering. Shower needs a shower curtain to stop this.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: the site itself was quite nice and we found a great spot to pitch our tent. friendly member of staff welcomed us and gave directions on where to pitch and how to find path for our planned walk. offered fire pit and logs which we bought.

Disliked: toilet and shower area were below par for us. both toilet and showers were dirty and floors wet and had not been cleaned during our stay.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: First time going and received a warm welcome. Only stayed for one night but can’t wait to come back. Was good having the new toilet block as the other ones would be quite a trek in the middle of the night. Was nice as it wasn’t too busy and plenty of fields to choose from. Campsite was nice and quiet

Scenic walks are to be had along the namesake river in Lathkill Dale, where you can stride out towards Lathkill Head Cave (an hour and 20 minutes’ walk) or marvel at the clear springs at The Blue Waters near the peaceful village of Over Haddon (35 minutes). For a slightly longer ramble, Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow (90 minutes) reward with prehistoric monuments and ancient burial mounds. Combine your stroll around the verdant grounds at Chatsworth House with a guided tours of the mansion’s ornate rooms packed with priceless antiques, or take in the Elizabethan Walled Gardens at Haddon Hall (both 20 minutes’ drive) after you’ve admired the tapestry collection and medieval chapel. For an insight into Peak District heritage, visit the bijou Eyam Museum (also 20 minutes) in the famed ‘plague village’ to learn the story of the Bubonic Plague of 1346–52, or have a wander around the deserted remains of Magpie Mine (five minutes’ drive), which was the last working lead mine in Derbyshire and closed in 1958.
