Powered grass campsite
Liked The location was good, set back off the main road it was quiet and peaceful but also easy to get to local amenities and attractions.
The camping field was level with well maintained pitches and easy access to the washing facilities.
The shop stocked all of the essentials as well as some handy extras and the staff were always on hand to help out including out of hours.
Good wealth of information provided to help plan your stay and nice walks in the surrounding woodland and lakes on the site.
Shower block and toilets were clean and well maintained as was the washing up areas. Definitely the place to come for a peaceful and relaxing break.
Disliked The showers were clean and well presented and plenty of hot water but you have to keep pushing the tap to turn the shower on as the water only comes out in 20 second bursts, which is great for saving water but frustrating when you've got a head full of shampoo suds.

From the manager: Thank you Joanne for your lovely review of our site. We are so glad you had a relaxing stay and will visit us again. The showers are on a timer, like most campsites to prevent excess loss of water. We are on a bore hole system rather than mains and have plenty of water to use but try to be as eco friendly as possible and have set 30 second timers to ensure water is used properly. Trying to remain as eco friendly as possible is a great drive for us and we are very proud to have won the Gold standard in the David Bellamy conservation awards. I hope the water situation didn't cause you too may issues. Many thanks and we will look forward to seeing you again soon.

Liked The shower block and toilets, very clean and well kept, good washing up area and handy microwave. Nice information hut with lots of leaflets and games/books to use. Like the mini gold course and boules area. Well maintained site, not too big and lovely location. Handy free lift to the local pub and back. Ready erected tents were well equipped and in a good location. Staff were very helpful and was able to pitch early.

Holmrook, Cumbria, England
Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite
Liked The location, the fact that it was a small site so no rowdy groups. Facilities kept very clean and in good condition. Very nice pub within walking distance and although the camp site welcomed dogs there was no dog mess on site.
Left to your own devices undisturbed but camp owners on hand and available to help if you needed them.
River was easily accessible so you could have a paddle or a swim if you wanted. There are no play areas for children, but the river makes a good paddling pool and as our children are grown up that wasn't a problem but it might not suit a family with young children.
Disliked The mosquito's, remember to take repellent with you!
