Swanage, Dorset, England
Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite
Liked Friendly people. Choose your own spot. Lovely clean toilets and showers. Relaxed vibe. No children in school holidays!
Disliked Dislike is a strong word!
There is road noise, especially at the far end of the site. There is also some train noise. Neither detracted from a relaxing stay though.
Very poor mobile reception on EE

From the manager: Thank you for leaving us a lovely review! We are really enjoying being an adults only, quiet campsite. Unfortunately one of the phone masts in Swanage has been down for the last month so signal is intermittent all around town, hope they get it fixed soon! Appreciate the feedback! Hope you can stay with us again! Steph

Liked I moved here from another local site that got too noisy and it was great move. The touring pitches are around a big open field, very spacious, although I would have liked a bit of physical separation between the pitches (a small hedge or something). I was pitch 15 which backs onto the road, with a fair bit of noise, but it was quiet overnight.
Toilets were individual shower rooms with loo, basin and shower in each one. Very spacious and clean.
Excellent pub right next door, the Grove Lock, I was solo with my dog and enjoyed a pint and good fish & chips there.
Receptionist very friendly.
Location by the canal is lovely.
Disliked Nothing

Beach Field primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Freedom to choose where I pitched. Very relaxed atmosphere and “back to basics” feel of the beach field. Nice clean showers and toilets.
Fab location on the coast path and small private beach was lovely.
Disliked Nothing. Although due to heavy rain I moved to a more sheltered area of the site as I was worried about getting stuck!

Liked Location.
Friendly & relaxed welcome
Freedom to choose pitch
Great pub
Lovely walks
Dog walk on site
Disliked Shower block could do with updating. Portacabin was a bit basic, although the actual showers were hot and had good pressure.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite
Liked Size and location of pitch. Adult only site. Relaxed feel. Good free WiFi.
Disliked Traffic noise from nearby dual carriageway. For that reason we wouldn’t choose this site again, but otherwise it’s lovely and just the sort of site we like.

From the manager: Thank you very much for your review and we are really pleased to hear you found the site lovely and just the sort of site you like! It's great to hear you had a relaxing time during your stay. We're pleased you enjoyed the free wifi which has just been upgraded to allow guests to visit our Online Reception and plan days out during their stays. Unfortunately, Highways England were carrying out emergency roadworks nearby overnight on the two nights you stayed with us, which were held back because of lockdown. We appreciate the noise may have been more audible as you were in a van conversion with a tent-structure attached to the back. You'll see 86% of Pitchup customers rank us as a "peaceful" site, which is echoed by the rest of the reviews received this season. It was lovely to meet you both.

Power optional cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite
Liked Friendly welcome, quiet site, not too many pitches. Dog friendly. Nice pub serving food (although we didn’t eat there).
Disliked Shower and toilet were very basic, just one of each and it was far too cold to be tempted to shower. We were able to use the pub toilets whilst they were open though. As we were only there for one night we decided to do without a shower!
