Primitive grass campsite (riverside)
Liked Such a lovely campsite, has a really nice vibe and staff are really friendly!
Shower block and toilets always stocked up and clean.
Had a non-electric pitch and pitched close to the entrance to the river, perfect fishing spots and access for paddle boarding!
20 minute walk to the town which is a nice riverside walk.
Will be back!
Disliked Just noise from a nearby road on Saturday night (sounded like some car racing around on a nearby road with a seriously loud exhaust) no fault of the campsite but something to bear in mind.
Sunday night was lovely and peaceful with sounds of owls and other wildlife so obviously doesn’t happen often with the cats.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Lovely spacious pitches, quiet location with nearby river and waterfall walk which was very enjoyable.
Lady on site was very helpful and friendly.
Toilets and showers were never too busy.
Disliked Showers were occasionally lukewarm, this was more late evening but morning and early afternoon seemed to be ok.
There could be some cleaning equipment in the toilet/shower block so people could clean up after them selves.

From the manager: Glad you enjoyed area. As I’ve previously mentioned, I’m sorry if you e had a lukewarm shower but if there have been a load of people using the showers on the bank holiday weekend the water needs time to reheat. Looking forward to your return visit.

Liked Really lovely small quiet site, nice pitches, very clean facilities and great location.
Disliked The only thing that I disliked was the one shower room in the hut to the right the light sensor wasn’t great and kept turning off after a few seconds if you weren’t moving much so made even brushing teeth at night difficult

From the manager: We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Dolau Afon, thank you so much for booking, it was lovely to meet you all. We are so sorry about the lighting in the trailer shower, the light was only fitted last week, and we didn't realise that it was going off an on so frequently. It has now been adjusted and is staying on much longer now, giving more time to complete ablutions in the light. It was a quick and easy adjustment, and we wish you had told us it was doing this and you wouldn't have been inconvenienced, really sorry. We hope to see you again. Thank you for the lovely review, it means a lot to us that our guests are happy campers :-)

Disliked Nothing for us but may be a long walk to the facilities from the main field for other campers

Power optional grass campsite
Liked Location close to beaches and forest
Disliked Overcrowded, loud, everyone using fire pits which is very well if you want to, but if you don’t you just get everyone’s else’s smoke in your tent and the whole campsite was a fog of smoke for hours. Toilets were being cleaned at 7:30am in which they closed the whole block and a que was forming ( seemed an odd time to be closing the toilets) however they were fairly clean most of the time. Showers and toilets limited.
