Excellent site, great facilities

Aug 2026

Liked Lovely, well maintained, flat site, situated in stunning mountainous surroundings. The people running the site were very helpful and attentive - we called them out a couple of times and they were very happy to help, which we loved! The site was nice and quiet during the week, getting slightly busier at the weekend but it never felt too busy. Toilets and showers were clean and tidy. We loved the little river running through the back of the site, we even saw a Mink fishing in the water. There's no on-site shop, fridge or charging facilities but there is a shop very close by that sells all the basics and does a decent breakfast bap!

Disliked Only very MINOR gripes but... 1) The washing up facilities were somewhat lacking - one sink with a single cold water tap. Not a big problem for us as we took all the kit to wash up in camp. 2) There is only one water tap by the entrance. Again not really a problem for us (as we always bring a festival/beach trolley) but worth noting.

Great site, spotless facilities, a bit windy

Aug 2025

Liked We loved our stay here, we would highly recommend this site! The site itself is very well maintained and nice and flat. The pitches are large so we had plenty of space. The loos and showers were absolutely spotless, we were amazed at the fact that there was not a single bug in them! The showers were fantastic. The site is close to the beach which is within walking distance, albeit down quite a large, steep hill. Very quite at night, no traffic noise, which was such a treat!

Disliked There are lovely views out across the bay but worth noting that the price you pay for this is exposure to the wind. We had two very windy nights which we weren't sure our tents would survive but when it calmed down it was perfect.

Rough round the edges but clean, great for kids

Aug 2017

Liked The site is a bit rough round the edges but we absolutely loved it. The facilities where clean and tidy at all times, you can pitch up where you like, the ground is a bit bumpy and the grass a tad long but you can always find a nice, level pitch. Even when the site was at full capacity there was acres of space. It was quiet yet at night the murmur of happy campers and glowing campfires made for a really nice atmosphere. The one time there was a blocked toilet a quick text to the site owner and he was on the scene sporting his blue gloves within minutes.

Disliked The showers were great but when the site was at its busiest (bank hol weekend) the hot water ran out by 5pm but it was back a couple of hours later, also the showers could do with a curtain - you have to be careful not to get everything you take in drenched. The site owner is missing a trick by not selling firewood. We spent quite a lot each night on wood for our campfire (£15-£20) but had to travel to Weymouth to find it.

From the manager: Thanks for the review! Additional hot water tanks installed to cope with the weekend surges so 🤞to plenty of hot water for 2018 Firewood available from Kate’s farm shop just a few hundred meters from the campsite!

Great field, but noisy and terrible long-drop toilets.

May 2017

Liked The price for the weekend was great but this was to be expected for a site with no facilities. The amount of space we had was lovely and the ground was nice and flat to pitch on. Plenty of room for 4 large tents and a large area for the kids to play. The location to local attractions was fantastic - just down the road from beautiful Cheddar gorge. Lack of internet connectivity in the area was also fantastic, exactly what we wanted when on a camping get-away!

Disliked The toilets weren't great. We were prepared for basic long-drop style toilets but over the weekend the site was particularly busy. The toilets were, lets-say, "well used" and with just a small bucket of sawdust to throw down (which was gone by midday) they absolutely stank. This obviously meant that people would "splash and dash" leaving the seats covered in waste. The flies and stench were unbearable at times and I have to say, very unsanitary and if they were cleaned at all over the course of the weekend then we didn't notice. The noise on the site was a bit much too. We were forewarned that there would be a noisy wedding near by but there were also people riding around the site on scooters, and lots of noisy groups.
