Portmeirion, Gwynedd, Wales
Powered gravel and cement/asphalt RV campsite (small)
Liked Fantastic location because you are staying on the Portmeirion estate. Not cheap but does include unlimited entry for the time you stay there. The nicest, warmest, cleanest shower block I’ve ever seen with brilliant water pressure. Very quiet and tranquil but weather wasn’t good so can’t comment about what it would be like when crowded.

Liked Friendly welcome, stunning location and level pitches with views to die for. Being able to log on to good WiFi was really helpful too. Would recommend

Primitive grass campsite
Liked This is a beautiful site in the midst of the New Forest and you are literally surrounded by nature. The ponies amble past in the early morning and cows came by in the evening. It’s great to be able to choose your own pitch but despite the informality everything was very well run. Showers and toilets clean and plentiful for the large site. Great for cycling and walking or just sitting around under the trees.
We would return.

Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales
Primitive cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (members only)
Liked Beautiful location, easy to find. Toilet and shower were spotless. Very peaceful but only minutes from Aberystwyth. If only we had brought our bikes we could have gone on the cycle route which is literally next to the site. Would recommend.
Unfortunately we left our step stool there but totally our fault and hopefully someone else will get some use from it!

Maulévrier, Maine-et-Loire, France
Powered grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Peaceful, private pitches on a lovely farm. Very welcoming reception and excellent facilities with lots for children. The shower and services block was extremely well equipped with a full kitchen and games room. We were given detailed instructions on how to walk to the fabulous japanese garden in nearby Maulevrier. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Disliked Very clean showers but have to keep button pushed continuously to achieve any water. I understand this is to conserve water but trying to shower with one hand isn't that easy if you have any mobility issues!

Bergerac, Dordogne, France
FHU grass and earth travel trailer campsite
Liked As everyone says, fabulous location- can walk across bridge and in Bergerac.
Disliked I have used much better and cleaner toilets and showers at a festival. The pitches were all waterlogged, there was mud everywhere and the facilities were dirty with lukewarm water, no soap and many lightbulbs out so a shower in the evening was out of the question.
Ladies rugby teams also camping meant loud partying until early hours so wasn’t very restful.
I understand that the site is by the river and the trees cannot be cut but something needs to be done about the appalling surface of the pitches and the dated facilities.

Powered grass and earth campsite
Liked Cheap and cheerful- yes there is only one shower and toilet but it’s a small site and was no problem. Basic but clean and with hot water if you’re quick in the shower.
Great location for Bayeux and cycling around.
Disliked Nothing

Power optional grass campsite
Liked Friendly welcome and convenient location, could choose pitch
Disliked Showers and toilets shut for the whole afternoons. No toilet seats. Acorns falling on motor home are very noisy- luckily we managed to grab the last pitch not under the trees.

Powered grass and earth campsite
Liked Arrived to a friendly welcome with a bread and pastry order taken for breakfast and a choice of pitch. Incredibly peaceful amongst trees and surrounded by vineyards. Pool looked lovely but was a bit cold for us to go in. Facilities were clean and spacious- unisex doesn’t bother us at all. Had dinner in the restaurant on the second evening which was great value and very good. Would love to return in warmer weather.
