East Leake, Nottinghamshire, England
FHU grass and gravel campsite
Liked * Easy access from the M1
* Very well presented site
* Large, almost flat pitch, no ramps needed, just minor levelling on steadies
* Ample space even for a 7.5m A Class
* Clean, warm toilet and shower facilities
* Excellent washing-up facilities
* Well-positioned for a 20+ minute, flat and safe walk into East Leake village, with good amenities including shops, cafés and pubs
Disliked * Only two toilet/shower rooms, both en suite, meaning queues are likely at peak times
* Chemical waste point located by reception, making it a longer walk than expected from pitches
* Significant aircraft noise due to location directly under a flight path, including early morning and late-night flights
* No clear mention of aircraft noise on the official website or booking description
* Owner came across as distant and unwelcoming, which impacted the overall feel of the stay, we felt like an intrusion rather than a welcomed guest.

FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite
Liked The team were excellent, friendly, helpful and very engaged. The site and facilities were clean, well presented and the team clearly cared that we enjoyed our stay. One last big ‘shout out’ to young Jack, who came over to congratulate me on the fish I caught and then took a picture so I could gloat to my mate!
Disliked The Leisure Bar & Bistro had a good atmosphere and was reasonably priced but our food took an hour from point of order and some of it was under cooked and missing items. The pizza’s however, were excellent, and a lady who was very concerned that our meal was not up to their normal standards, issued a partial refund, another example of their ‘World Class’ approach to customer service we thought, so thank you!

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback here on Pitch Up, we really appreciate your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us at Pearl Lake and that our team members were as friendly and helpful as always - thank you for giving our team member Jack a "shout out". It's made us all smile. However, we are sorry to hear that your experience at the Lakeside Bar and Bistro was not a perfect one. But we are happy to hear that the issues had were handled in a manner that you thought was "another example of their 'World Class' approach to customer service". We hope to welcome you back to Pearl Lake in the near future.

Gold FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Made to feel very welcome, quiet pitch and just a short walk through the woods to a pub which served good food. Good location not too far from Stonehenge but no road noise.
Disliked Booked a Gold pitch as all that was available on such a late booking but not worth the £40 price, we have stayed in much better for the same or less money but as they say location, location, location! The hose on the tap and the chemical toilet is the wrong size so didn’t fit on the outlet pipe which made flushing out more difficult than it should have been. Looked like it had been like it for sometime, bit of a shame for £2 worth of hose and a 50p Jubilee clip!

Powered grass and gravel campsite
Liked People were friendly enough and it was quiet.
Disliked The fishing cabin was closed and the ‘shop’ had limited supplies. The Hokey Smokey BBQ only opens at weekends. Lots of mosquitos from the lake.

Liked Everything, especially the attitude of the team there, Tracy was a joy from start to finish and Steve from the maintenance team was a real credit to the site.
Disliked WiFi was a bit hit and miss on our pitch but we did ask for somewhere quiet so our own fault.

Power optional grass campsite
Liked The site had everything we needed and the pub was a joy. The Sunday roast was excellent but was overshadowed by the hot toast beef sandwich! Gravy, horseradish, what’s bit to like.
