- Quiet and leafy RV campground on the outskirts of Wilmington, Vermont
- Lake Raponda 10 minutes’ drive; Mount Snow golf and biking 15 minutes
- Sites next to Binney Brook; stores and restaurants five minutes’ drive
In search of a peaceful tourer campground with a bit of history attached? Gus’s Gardens, just outside Wilmington in Vermont, might be the place for you. Here the spacious, neatly mown sites are set in 10 acres of leafy grounds surrounding a handsome private homestead built in the 1860s.
The list of facilities is fairly minimal – there’s internet access, a barbecue and a few picnic tables scattered among the wildflowers – so you’ll need to be in a self-contained vehicle. Binney Brook runs past the sites, and there are lots of walks for you – and any accompanying pets – to have a stretch of the legs. Please keep your dogs on a leash or under effective vocal control when on the property.
Downtown Wilmington is less than five minutes’ drive away, with its choice of fast-food stops, seafood restaurants and a couple of stores. Drive for 10 minutes in any direction, and you will find yourself in spectacular forested hiking country.
