Flint Farm and Ranch

- Campground on an organic farm 15 minutes’ drive from Deputy, Indiana
- Clifty Falls State Park 15 minutes’ drive, and Madison 20 minutes
- Fitness center, wilderness hiking, wild swimming and fishing available
Now here’s a chance to get right back to nature on an untamed campground in the backwoods of Indiana. Guests at Flint Farm and Ranch, 15 minutes’ drive from the agricultural town of Deputy, will find themselves on a storied property that was fought over in the Civil War and popular with tourists in the late 1800s and early 1900s for its massive cave – so popular in fact that state bigwigs built a road right to its entrance.
Today it is a 300-acre organic beef and pasture-raised pork farm used recently as a location for an award-winning horror movie. However, there’s nothing remotely scary about the woodland trails that cross-cross the land, leading along creeksides to peaceful wild swimming spots, fishing platforms on the pond and – of course – to the cave, where you can picnic or stay overnight.
There’s a well-equipped fitness center next to reception in the middle barn, and various handy amenities like compost toilets, showers and a launderette. You also have access to a four-wheel drive if you’re considering exploring the more remote corners of the campground.
