Just take a look at those views… Camping Municipal de Sobrescobio is surrounded by the scenery of the Redes Natural Park, giving pitches a fabulous natural backdrop of mountains and forest views.
With all that gorgeous scenery around, it's no surprise to find that the owners of this site are keen to preserve the natural environment, integrating buildings into the landscape thoughtfully and installing eco-friendly features such as biomass power and energy-efficient facilities.
To keep the site’s footprint fairly minimal, facilities have been kept on the simple side, but you’ll have access to a bar, a restaurant and a shop on site, along with a launderette, a chemical disposal point and modern bathrooms with showers and toilets (including accessible facilities). There's no wifi service, but most guests can get decent mobile reception if they need it – although you may find you’re so caught up in the scenery that you forget about your devices for a while…
Want to get out and see some more of your surroundings? You’ll be in a good spot for it here – there are numerous hiking, cycling and mountain bike trails nearby, including some that pass right by the site. The popular Ruta del Alba is close by, as are access points for canoeing or kayaking on the Nalón river.
After all that activity, you may well feel the need to cool off – and that's easily done at the public pool two kilometres away in Rioseco. The town also has a small supermarket and a couple of restaurants.

Local attractions
It’s the chance to walk or bike through spectacular scenery that brings most guests to this site, with a fair few drawn by the nearby Ruta del Alba (five minutes' drive/10 minutes’ cycle to the trailhead). This seven-kilometre trail is known as one of the most approachable ways to explore the area; it’s suitable for families and casual walkers, and has various detours you can take for a longer route.
Those of you who fancy something more challenging should find plenty of options in the surrounding mountains. Likewise, there are lots of quiet little corners in the Redes Natural Park where wildlife spotters can settle to catch sight of the golden eagles, vultures and other species that live around here. Come along in autumn and you may catch the sound of the deer rut as well.
For something a bit different, join a canoeing or kayaking tour on the Nalón river with a local company or venture underground at Pozo Sotón (20 minutes’ drive), a former coal mine that now offers a variety of tours, some of which descend 500 metres below the surface.
