Beaches in one direction, mountains in the other… if you like a bit of variety in your holiday scenery, you should certainly be pleased with the Galicia location of Camping As Nevedas. This family-run campsite is in a rural spot that’s just under four kilometres from the coast and 15 minutes’ drive from Carballo. Naturally, this sort of location means easy access to all manner of outdoor activities, whether you fancy taking your bike out on forest trails, hiking along coast paths, going horse riding (in the woods or on the beach), trying your luck with your fishing rods or donning scuba tanks to go out diving. Prefer to take it easy? There are several gorgeous beaches close by – including the stretches at Razo, Baldaio and Caión. (If you’re not familiar with this area, by the way, don’t let the name ‘Costa da Morte’ put you off – it gained its deathly name from the number of shipwrecks that happened along its rocky length in the past but it’s perfectly welcoming to visitors…) Being so close to the coast, there’s a good supply of seafood in the area – and guests can sample it easily enough at the on-site restaurant, where you’re also welcome to settle in for a cool drink at the bar. Other facilities on site include a swimming pool, a paddling pool, a play area and a games room – along with lots of handy amenities such as a launderette, washing-up area and toilet/shower block. As this is a rural spot well removed from urban areas you can expect some fabulous stargazing on clear nights.

Liked The size of the pitches - we only had a medium size tent and had loads of shady space. (Maybe some camper vans were more squeezed).
The bathroom facilities, spotless.
The bar - offered breakfast, fresh bread & croissants, lunches, beers, cocktails or coffees- everything you need and great prices.
The staff - everyone was amazing.
Very small site - fantastic.
Highly recommend.

Liked Well maintained, friendly site. Owners very happy to help with anything. All facilities available, pool, bar, restaurant, loos, showers, electric hook up.
5km walk to local village with lovely beach and sea swimming, great restaurants and bars.
Naturally quiet site with good morning atmosphere.
Croissants and bread cooked on site, with fresh brewed coffee, hard to leave bar area and fantastic prices.

Disliked Pitch was long and narrow and would be very tight for larger campervan. Just rearrange how you set up van and awnings to suit.
Shower temperature was bit hit and miss, but cold shower was good for cooling off !

Liked Me gustó el tamaño de la parcel porque íbamos con caravana y la sombra. Al principio el trato fue bueno.

Disliked El problema, casi nunca había agua caliente en las duchas, nos lo advierten el primer día, pero nos dicen que suele pasar por la tarde cuando vuelve la gente de la playa y piscina, pero también pasaba por las mañanas e íbamos con niños pequeños. Nos dicen que por problemas de cantidad de gente en agosto y los baños sucios, nos dicen que por falta de personal porque no encuentran gente que quiera trabajar. La cocina del restaurante cierra a las 21:30, pronto para nosotros. 3 días antes de finalizar nuestra estancia puso mi marido una reseña en Google contando lo sucedido y con una calificación de 3,5 sobre 5, y al día siguiente por la tarde vinieron el dueño y la dueña o trabajadora para quejarse y decirnos que le íbamos a hundir el negocio por esa reseña y que al día siguiente nos teníamos que ir, que nos echaban, a dos familias con niños de entre 18 meses y 6 años, con el eclipse solar y todo lleno. Estuvimos razonando con ellos y solo se vinieron abajo cuando dijimos de quitar la reseña. Incluso dijimos de llamar a la policía porque era ilegal echarnos por una reseña y decían que tenían derecho de admisión (nos devolvían el dinero de ese día y ya). Al final quitamos la reseña y nos quedamos porque nos quedaba solo ese día de estancia, pero ya estábamos incómodos y seguimos sin agua caliente.

Local attractions

Beach hunters should be pretty pleased with what they’ll find in these surroundings… The nearest beach is Caión (five minutes’ drive), and it’s a lovely place with fine, soft sand and clear waters for days of sunbathing and swimming. Baldaio, a little further along the coast, is another long sandy stretch that’s suitable for families, while Razo (15 minutes) is the place to go for surfing and surf lessons. If you’d like to get stuck into outdoor activities, maybe stroll next door to the horse riding school or ask on site for advice on the best places for fishing, hiking, cycling or diving. City life and seaside come together in one place over in A Coruña (25 minutes), where you can climb to the top of the Torre de Hércules (the world’s oldest working lighthouse), see marine life at Aquarium Finisterrae and see all sorts of intriguing exhibits at Museo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia – and also find some great places to eat.
