- Family-friendly site with direct access to a sandy beach
- Activities for all ages including excursions and nature workshops
- Pool, restaurant, tropical garden, sports area and basketball court
The pool at fab and family-friendly Camping La Tordera in the Barcelona region is rather special – for there's a tropical garden in its watery surrounds, for serene and sunny days lying poolside under a hot Spanish sun. And the site is rather special too, for it has direct access to a spectacularly sandy beach a mere short stroll away and is in a peaceful wildlife haven close to the Tordera river delta.
If you yearn for yet more of the sandy stuff, the also-spectacular beach at Blanes is only about a kilometre from here, and the sands of popular seaside resort Malgrat de Mar (all seven kilometres' worth) are only a few minutes' drive along the coast. (If the kids yearn for yet more excitement, the Marineland Catalunya waterpark lies between these two coastal towns.)
Alongside the warm blue pool and the tropical garden, Camping La Tordera has a sports area with two football pitches, a basketball court, six pétanque lanes and a restaurant dishing up fresh food using local recipes. And if you yearn for a holiday where the kids have no hope of claiming they're bored? The Tordera entertainment runs all year round and includes kids' entertainment, family games, music shows, aqua gym, sports, organised excursions, nature workshops and a mobile disco.

Local attractions
Camping La Tordera is near the Tordera river, a rich birdwatching and nature spotting site as well as a popular place for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Rural roads, coastal roads and mountains are around to explore from the site by foot or pedal.
Local town Blanes, another popular Costa de Brava spot, was the first town in the region to be given family tourism status. As well as the four award-winning beaches and Marineland Catalunya set between it and Malgrat de Mar, days out and lazy afternoons in Blanes include strolling on its famed promenade, mooching around its quayside fish market, or seeing the 3,000 or so species at the spectacular Marimurtra Botanical Gardens to the town's north east. Over 7,000 cacti live spikily at the Pinya de Rosa Tropical Gardens on Blanes's outskirts.
Malgrat de Mar is another top spot: there are seven kilometres of beach to wander or watersport from here, as well as a 16th-century church, 14th-century hospital and several more old piles for the historically inclined.
The colourful Francesc Macià Park should have sprogs sorted for a fun day out, among its play areas, skate zone, sports areas and many sculptures based on kids' stories.
Barcelona is 60 kilometres from the site for day trips; catch the train from Malgrat de Mar.
