Madera cottage / chalet / bungalow

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked Lovely camping space, nicely shaded between the trees, with great facilities and a superb restaurant. We had such a warm welcome and really enjoyed our stay, especially the stroll into historic Salamanca along the beautiful river path. The mini-market was also very handy and stocked a great range of products, and the food from the restaurant was first class. Great veggie options too!

Disliked Nothing.

Power optional grass tent campsite

Local attractions

Salamanca, of course… drive or cycle from Camping Don Quijote to this spectacular city, a university town, UNESCO World Heritage Site and former European Capital of Culture. Where to start? The Don Quijote team recommends just getting lost among the city streets; every corner, they say, is worth it, and at any time of year too. If you prefer your sightseeing time to be more itinerary-based, make first for Plaza Mayor, often called the most beautiful central plaza in the country, and stay until dark to see the baroque architecture light up. And then? Other Salamanca sightseeing options (there are many) include taking one of the four routes around the city, pottering around the Casa Lis Art Nouveau and Art Deco museum, having a look at the Escuelas Mayores courtyard at the University of Salamanca, and sampling yet more local cuisine such as chanfaina (steamed rice with pork) and hornazo meat pies – drop into the visitors’ centre in the San Millán Church for all the info you need.
