- Single cosy bell tent on the banks of the Ceira river near Serpins
- A 20-minute drive to Lousã and the schist villages; 40 mins to Coimbra
- Off-grid setup with bed, kitchen, bathhouse and solar lighting
Time to unplug for a while and switch off surrounded by splendid scenery? If that’s your aim, the single peaceful bell tent at Off-grid Riverside Glamping should suit you rather well. Tucked away in a peaceful agricultural valley and about 50 metres from the banks of the Ceira river, this lovely location makes a wonderful spot to slow down and take it easy for a few days.
This is a place where you’ll really be able to immerse yourselves in nature, waking up to birdsong, watching the stars by night and taking dips from the river beach (a couple of minutes’ walk away) in between the two.
The atmosphere here is one of wild camping, but you won’t be roughing it when you stay in this cosy bell tent. You’ll have a proper bed, for starters, with bed linen provided as well as towels for your bathhouse (which has a dry compost toilet, a basic wash area and a small camping shower pump; you’ll need to heat water on the stove or in the sun if you want a warm shower). Solar lamps are also included.
There’s also a kitchen area where you can try your hand at off-grid cooking – a gas stove, basic utensils, crockery and cutlery are provided, and the nearby stream provides a good alternative to a fridge. A 10-litre container of cooking/drinking water is provided on arrival; you can refill it at a nearby public tap or buy bottled water at the café 650 metres away.
Fittingly for such a laidback site, you can pick seasonal veg on request; other supplies and restaurant meals are available 20 minutes’ walk away in Serpins.
