Friesland family holidays are easily sorted at De Weyde Blick – this chilled-out holiday park in the tiny village of Warns has a good collection of family-friendly facilities, and is in an excellent spot for a wide variety of days out.
The highlight of this site for the kids is likely to be the outdoor pool, flanked by a play area, a sunbathing lawn and a terrace for drinks and snacks. Grownups, meanwhile, are likely also to appreciate the spacious pitches (stretching to 100 m², with water and electric connections), the takeaway with its daily delivery of fresh rolls, and the generally peaceful atmosphere around the park. There’s also a communal firepit area for sociable evenings cosying up by the flames.
Practical facilities are also on hand to help your holiday go smoothly – you’ll be able to hire bikes, use the wifi, stash food and drinks in the shared fridge and keep your kit clean at the launderette. The site’s bathroom block has toilets and showers with step-free access and wheelchair-accessible facilities. The nearest supermarkets, meanwhile, are a few kilometres away in Stavoren or Bakhuizen.
As for those days out… well, you’ll have plenty of options along the IJsselmeer coast, at the Frisian lakes and Gaasterland forests or exploring some of Friesland’s Eleven Cities. Boat trips, bike rides, barefoot walks… which will be first on your list?

- Group bookings of 6 or more units (e.g. tent, caravan, RV or accommodation hire) traveling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
- The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/04 and 01/10 (subject to weather conditions).
- Units heavier than 2000 kg are not allowed.
- Reception is unmanned after 6 p.m.. Please inform the park while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.

Liked We werden vriendelijk onthaald en naar onze plek begeleid. Nette, gezellige en overzichtelijke camping. Perfecte plek om de omgeving op de fiets te ontdekken. Pareltje wat mij betreft. Alleen maar plusjes.

Local attractions
The IJsselmeer is only a couple of kilometres away, so you may like to start with an outing there, perhaps to find one of the small beaches for a swim or to take a walk along the barefoot path. The Mar en Klif visitor centre (10 minutes’ drive/half an hour’s cycle) organises nature activities in high season, and you can join boat trips in Stavoren (10 minutes’ drive/15 minutes’ cycle). Canoes and kayaks can be hired in Molkwerum (five minutes’ drive/10 minutes’ cycle).
There are lots of lovely walking and cycling trails to follow in the local area – perhaps along the coast or in the Gaasterland forests. Staff on site can show you options that will suit your requirements. For a change of scenery they may also suggest a family day at Sybrandy's Speelpark (15 minutes’ drive), which has rides and play areas designed for younger guests.
And how about a taste of the area’s history and architecture? It’s easy to visit some of Friesland’s Eleven Cities from here – try Hindeloopen to see its traditional art and costumes, or Workum for a stroll around some classic gabled buildings before you hit the beach. Both are about 15 minutes’ drive away.
