In the province of Friesland, a 15-minute drive from Leeuwarden, Vakantiepark In Style is a peaceful spot that welcomes families (including the canine members of the gang), groups and indeed anyone who’s keen to explore this northern Dutch province, with its rich farmlands and remarkable watery landscapes. And there are plenty of options for outings around those landscapes. For starters, birdwatchers can head to Hemmemapark Berltsum (10 minutes’ drive; 20 minutes by bike), where the reeds fringing the pond provide a home for waterfowl, with other residents including woodpeckers and kingfishers. And for those who are into watersports, Sneekermeer (half an hour) and other Frisian lakes welcome paddleboarders and kayakers. As is often the case in Friesland, it makes sense if at all possible to travel with your trusted bicycle, to make the most of the area’s excellent cycling network. You can pedal all the way to the Wadden coast (45 minutes; or 15 minutes by car), where you can see the Waadfisker statue, visit World War II bunkers (Bunker Koehoal), stroll around the salt marshes of Kwelder Westhoeke and, on clear days, gaze upon the distant West Frisian Islands offshore. It’s also handy to be able to cycle to the nearby villages of Menaldum and Dronrijp for supplies – both of these are about five minutes away by bike. Back at base, the well-maintained park has a toilet/shower block, a launderette with drying facilities, and washing-up stations. In terms of on-site leisure activities, there’s an enclosed play area and a trampoline, plus a pétanque court for tournaments with family and friends.

Sommige dingen waren nog niet helemaal klaar maar komt zeker goed
Komen zeker terug

Disliked Legen van vuil water was ok maar om wc te Legen best nog water voorzien om te kunnen spoelen.
Maar dat zal ook nog goed komen

Liked Super einfach. Alles vorhanden was man braucht, durften uns einen Platz aussuchen, da alles leer war.
Die Rezeption nahm die Kritik an der Sauberkeit des Sanitärcontainers dankend an.

Disliked Es war nur eine Dusche und eine Toilette offen, die Dusche war komplett voller Sand am Boden und die Toilette war nicht viel sauberer, Seife war nicht vorhanden.

Nearby Leeuwarden (15 minutes’ drive) is full of good things to visit, including the Fries Museum, Ceramics Museum Princessehof and Prinsentuin canalside park. If you fancy being a bit more active, climb the Oldehove Tower for some sweeping city views, or stay at ground level to see if you can find all the miniature people hidden around the city centre. For a gentler outing, board a boat for a canal cruise. Other cities worth visiting nearby include Franeker (10 minutes), home to the Noah’s Ark Museum and Eise Eisinga Planetarium, and Sneek (half an hour), for the 17th-century Waterpoort gate, the Fries Scheepvaart Museum and Modelspoormuseum. For some more outdoor time, wander around the gardens at Dekemastate (15 minutes) or see if you can spot all the animals at Speel- en Dierenpark Sanjes Safari (25 minutes). You may also like to explore De Alde Feanen National Park – on foot, by bike or paddling a canoe.
