Flevoland is a laidback kind of place, and this family-friendly site fully reflects that vibe. Set in a quiet wooded area on the outskirts of Emmeloord, Camping Het Bosbad is a prime spot for checking out local flora and fauna, whether that's at the nearby kids' zoo (a 10-minute walk) or at De Weerribben-Wieden National Park (20 minutes' drive) If you’d rather cut down the kids' screen time, this shouldn’t be a problem thanks to the well-equipped playground and ample green space where they (and the dogs) can tear about. Older kids and adults may well prefer pedalling their way across the bike paths that crisscross the surrounding area: much of Flevoland was reclaimed from the sea not so long ago, meaning these lanes are flat even by Dutch standards. For on-site eats, there's a bar serving tasty snacks with a terrace for drinks out in the open air and lively evening entertainment, particularly during high season. Another option is to set up a barbecue (alfresco dining comes highly recommended around these pastoral parts); should you need the services of a supermarket, head five minutes down the road into Emmeloord.

Liked Super freundlich und hilfsbereit, sehr spontan noch einen Platz bekommen direkt am Spielplatz, so war mein Sohn glücklich. Sanitäranlagen sauber und alles gut beleuchtet. Alles war super gepflegt und die Gäste alle nett und nachts sehr ruhig.

Alongside on-site facilities, there are plenty of leisure options in nearby Emmeloord, including an indoor/outdoor pool with a large sunbathing area (five minutes' walk), an athletics track (five minutes), riding stables (10 minutes) and a golf club (five minutes' drive). The town has plenty of shops and restaurants to visit, but those looking for proper retail therapy should head to Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet (half an hour). Further afield, many guests like to linger in beauty spots such as Kuinre (10 minutes' drive), the coastal village of Urk (20 minutes) or explore the canals and waterways of Giethoorn ('The Venice of the North') aboard a rented boat or barge (half an hour). Other splendid local villages include Blokzijl (20 minutes), a hub for watersports, and Vollenhove (20 minutes) with its tumbledown castle ruins. Green-fingered visitors may well appreciate the delicate floral specimens on show at the local orchid farm (10 minutes), while hardy outdoorsy types will doubtless want to make their way to De Weerribben-Wieden National Park (20 minutes). The latter is the largest fen in Europe, so guests have room to roam for as long as they please.
