  • Family site surrounded by forest on the banks of the Our river
  • A 20-minute drive to Vianden Castle; 40 minutes to the Mullerthal
  • Fishing, bike hire, summer activities and restaurant/bistro on site
Holidaying here means heaps of lovely views over all sorts of natural landscapes… EuroParcs Kohnenhof is in the scenic Ourdal region, in the middle of the Luxembourg Ardennes and with fabulous forest views all around. Guests hoping to find lots of ways to get out and about in the fresh air should be pleased with the setup here – the local scenery is all green forests, pretty valleys and mountain views, and a bridge leading directly from the holiday park leads straight out on the trails. That means this is a very handy location for heading out on hikes or bike rides in the area around the site, heading off to other well-known areas like the Mullerthal (40 minutes’ drive away) or exploring sights like Vianden Castle (20 minutes). Getting about is easy, as there’s bike hire on site for those who need it. That said, staying on site is easy too – there’s fishing, table tennis, a playground and a multisports pitch to keep everyone busy, along with an activity programme in the summer. A restaurant, bistro and takeaway will keep everyone fed, and there’s also a small shop selling groceries and fresh rolls for breakfast. This is a well-appointed family site so all the essential amenities are in place too, including a launderette, hot showers, a baby bathroom, chemical disposal point and electric car charging. For anything else you need – including tips on the local area – have a chat to the staff at reception.

Liked Location scenery nice big pitches staff. It was beautiful area with some lovely walks. The permanent cabins were lovely and really gave the place a bit of class. The shop was ok but the hours were very varied Some of the other facilities mentioned were clearly for peak only the onsite restaurant was closed for two weeks and there were quite a few other periods through the year as well. This didn’t detract at all tbh. Being able to cross the bridge for a walk in Germany was fun as well

Disliked If your pitch was the wrong end it was a good walk to the Sanitary block due to it being a long thin site. w

Liked Lovely area, nice and peaceful (May).
Lots to see round about. Luxembourg
is a beautiful country.

Disliked Chemical waste, waste water and recycling were up a hill and a bit of a
walk for disposing of them.

Liked We were situated on the river, by the bridge that crosses over into Germany. The site was very clean and tidy with excellent bathroom facilities.

We stayed when it was quite quiet so we didn't get to try the shop or restaurant.

Would happily return.

Liked Really welcoming and helpful check in process.
Facilities were spotlessly clean.
Beautiful and peaceful setting.
Restaurant served lovely food.

Disliked My only criticism was the distance of our allocated pitch to the shower and toilet facilities. It may have been better to have a block either end of the park.

Liked A superb campsite, in an excellent location by a river that marked the boundary between Luxembourg and Germany - you can cross the pedestrian bridge into Germany and walk from the campsite.

The facilities were spotless though the showers had a strict 5 minute timer followed by a 5 minute delay before they could be used again - to ensure no long queues and minimise water use I assume. A restaurant and well-stocked campsite shop; you order your bread, croissants etc the evening before for delivery fresh the following morning - a typical experience across most European campsites.

pretty, peaceful beside the river. Somewhere to get away from it all.

Local attractions

Once you’ve explored the local walking/bike routes, head off to tackle those of theUpper Sûre Nature Park or the Mullerthal (both 40 minutes’ drive) – the latter area is known as ‘Little Switzerland’ for its fabulous mountain scenery, and there are lots of great trails there to help you discover top sights like waterfalls and viewpoints. Or how about actually crossing into a different country? The holiday park is on the banks of the Our river, which forms a natural border with Germany, so you can hop over the border to places like Prüm or Bitburg (both 45 minutes). Back over in Luxembourg, you may like to take a day wandering around the pretty town of Echternach (45 minutes), ride a chairlift up the hill for a visit to Vianden Castle (20 minutes) or go underground at the Copper Mine Museum in Stolzembourg (10 minutes). And at the end of it all, maybe you’d like a dip in the country’s first natural swimming pool at AquaNat’Our (15 minutes) – the indoor pools and slides make a handy place to take the kids on a damp day.
