Lush and lovely Lake Garda is your smashing site setting here: clambering sorts, scene seekers and keen amblers will be most pleased with the locale, as its surrounds are highly spectacular and it’s within easy reach of lots of outdoorsy activities for all the above and more. Camping Daino’s friendly and multilingual team is always on hand to impart you with local wisdom, helping you organise your days of sightseeing and activity-doing to make the very most of your holiday here. A few of the tips they’ll readily dish out are that you’re a mere 10-minute walk from the Che Guevara Via Ferrata climbing route, which begins at the carpark of a quarry over in the local town of Pietramurata; that you’re a short drive from Arco and several other spots to clamber at; and that the lakes of Cavedine, Garda, Ledro and Molveno are all within easy reach too, for watersports like windsurfing and sailing, and biking and hiking adventures around their perimeters. As you'd expect with a spot as utterly excellent as this, the mountain views on site are truly tiptop too. As are the facilities, which comprise a heated outdoor pool with a view, bike hire (handy for exploring all those lovely local cycle routes) and a communal room with a TV, a prep kitchen and a fridge in which to store your foodie supplies. Also splendidly, you can get stuck into watersports and fishing right from the site too. Camping Daino is a compact, well laid-out and peaceful place, with lots of shaded spots around to loll around in on hot days; your super amenable friendly hosts Luigi and Angela tend to the site’s grounds and its facilities oft, so it’s no wonder that lots of guests make return visits year after year. Dogs are welcome on site, as long as they're kept away from the pool area; there's also a designated dog area.

Fantastic Dolomites campsite with friendly staff & clean facilities, incl. a great pool. Enjoy stunning mountain views & an on-site market. Some pitches are snug, but it's perfect for hiking. Minor gripes: limited market stock & washing machine instructions not in English.

Liked Standen sehr schön, gemischt mit Zelten unter großem Baum. Schöner Pool mit Blick auf grandiose Felswand. Alles gut. Super Gegend für Wanderungen und Radtouren zu Seen vorbei an Apfel-, Pflaumenbäumen und Weinreben.

Disliked La tarde-noche del 15 de agosto había una especie de fiesta, con música a todo volumen hasta después de las 23.00 y gente muy bebida con fuertes discusiones, que hizo imposible poder descansar.

Local attractions

If you’re a sporty sort who’s fond of a clamber, then you’re very well set for a number of good climbing spots around the Piccole Dolomiti area near the northern end of Lake Garda: the closest Via Ferrata route begins at the quarry in nearby, which has climbers scrambling up a big wall to the flat, grass-topped peak of Casale for smashing views toward the peaks that surround. More sporting options are a cinch around here too, as the lush lakes of Cavedine, Garda, Ledro and Molveno are within easy reach for watersports like windsurfing and sailing, as well as heaps of hiking and cycling trails around them and the wooded slopes they lie among: in fact, more than 500 kilometres’ worth of mountain biking trails lie around the locale. Around 35 minutes’ drive away are the pistes of Vaneze, which are set 1,300 metres above sea level and five kilometres from Trento. It’s a small and friendly family resort comprising 21 kilometres of Alpine ski slopes and 35 of Nordic pistes, and when you triumphantly reach the summit you’ll be rewarded most handsomely with 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks before you ski speedily off down blue, red and black runs. Also splendidly, for more seasoned skiers the off-piste forest terrain here takes you down some utterly spectacular descents, and there’s a top-notch Olympic half-pipe for freestylers, as well as snowshoeing, ice skating, curling and sledging should you wish to take things decidedly down a notch.
