  • Luxury glamping with stunning sea views on the Tyrrhenian coastline
  • Five minutes’ drive to Tusa or the beaches at Marina and Lampare
  • Elegant bungalow with private garden, barbecue, hot tub and sauna
Looking for style and luxury in the middle of spectacular seascapes? A stay at Terre di Tusa (five minutes’ drive from medieval Tusa), seriously ups the glamour stakes for a camping experience with all the little comforts of a hotel. This Sicilian eco-chic spot is a comfortable and refined hilltop campsite with views over the entire Tyrrhenian coastline. Accommodation is in a cool (literally too, as it is air-conditioned) wooden bungalow with an entrance hall, living area, kitchenette with cooker and sink, a double bedroom and ensuite bathroom – and all is designed to a very high standard and equipped with every comfort. Outside, the bungalow is surrounded by olive trees and Mediterranean greenery, with a verandah facing the sea, barbecue and private seating area. But best of all – it has its own exclusive-use hot tub – what better way could there be to round off a day at the beach than soaking in the tub with a glass of bubbly in hand? Well … for even more relaxing vibes, ease away muscle aches in the Finnish sauna. If you’re keen to get out exploring around Tusa, rent electric bikes on site, go fishing or stroll quiet countryside paths. And to spoil yourselves on a big night out, head along the coast to Castel di Tusa (five minutes) for fish restaurants with sea views.

Local attractions

Start your discovery of the region with strolls through the holm oak woods of Bosco di Tardara in lush Nebrodi National Park (35 minutes’ drive), where you can chance upon dramatic waterfalls, or clamber up sloping meadows to the top of craggy Rocche del Crasto (an hour) for views over the Tyrrhenian Sea. Peer into the long, long history of Sicily with a visit to the remains of the ancient Greek city Halaesa Arconidea (10 minutes). It was founded in 403 BC on a steep hillside, and today you can wander around the ruins of the temple and agora and afterwards admire the classical statues on display in the museum. Coming back to the present day, follow the Fiumara d’Arte contemporary art trail from the seaside ‘Monument to a Dead Poet’ (15 minutes) to the hilltop ‘Pyramid Parallel 38’ (15 minutes). Slow the pace and spend lazy days on the sandy beaches at Marina or Lampare beaches (both five minutes), or test your nerve at Zipline Sicilia (40 minutes) as you hurtle across the valley from San Mauro Castelverde.
