Keen to sample a true taste of Sicily? Head up into the hills near Sambuca di Sicilia for a stay at Azienda Agricola Contadino di Galluzzo, a family-run farm that grows a variety of produce and invites guests to join in with meals, tours and tastings as part of their stay.
The motto of this place is very simple: ‘From the land to the table.’ And you’ll soon see why at this friendly place tucked away among woodland, vineyards and olive groves in the island’s northwest. The wines produced here often find themselves on the menu at some high-end restaurants, but you’ll be able to sample them here, either on a tasting session or accompanying your dinner in the restaurant. The team here will also happily introduce you to their wares through a guided tour, whether you’re into your wine or more intrigued by the home-made craft beer.
And when you’re not learning about/trying the food and drinks? Well, you can be learning about the area instead – perhaps visiting the village to stroll through its cobbled streets, hiking through the scenic countryside or even just chilling out on site to take in the lovely views.
Motorhome pitches at this site have access to toilets, picnic tables and charging facilities but please note you’ll need to bring drinking water as there’s none available here.

- The park caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
- Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
- At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
- A cable measuring at least 5 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.
- There is no reception building on-site: on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Local attractions
The farm is close to the archaeological site of Mount Adranone (five minutes’ drive) and Lake Arancio (10 minutes), both of them great places for a stroll. Monte Genuardo e Santa Maria del Bosco Nature Reserve (20 minutes) has plenty to offer those in search of a longer hike.
To take in some history instead, aim for Sambuca di Sicilia (five minutes) to wander through the maze of streets in the old Arab Quarter and visit the Archaeological Museum of Palazzo Panitteri, which is now home to some of the artefacts unearthed at nearby Mount Adranone. Just on the edge of the village is Terrazzo Belvedere, a fabulous spot for looking out at the scenery, especially at sunset.
The local landscapes are fabulous, but if you do fancy a change of scenery, head to the coast for a beach day at Spiaggia Fiori Sud (35 minutes) or a stroll around the pretty port of Sciaccia (40 minutes), taking in its ceramics shops and thermal baths. Castello Incantato, an art-filled garden on the edge of town, is worth a stop too.
