When all you want to do is chill under an umbrella on a private beach backed by trees, get yourself to Camping Serenella. This laid-back Puglia holiday village is sheltered by Mediterranean pine forest and has exclusive use of the Adriatic beach at Lido del Sole, five minutes’ walk from the pitches. Hard-working entertainment teams are on hand to keep kids and teens busy with lots of activities, games and challenges – so while they’re having fun, you can laze around beachside without any worries. So, grab that umbrella and catch some sun on the sand, cool off with a dip in the sea and then head for the beach bar for a leisurely Puglian lunch or afternoon snack. And at sunset, it’ll be time for an aperitif, so sip something chilled while watching the sun slipping down over the waves. No worries about security here either; there are private parking spaces adjacent to the camping village, and guards are on duty 24/7 at the entrance gate.

Liked Il campeggio è situato praticamente sulla spiaggia, la spiaggia è pulita e dotata di un bar che serve caffè e bevande fresche, il campeggio dispone di servizi igienici puliti e regolarmente puliti, belle attrazioni per bambini, è vicino alla cittadina più grande di Rodi con supermercati più economici, e a Lido del Sole stesso ci sono diversi bei negozi di alimentari.

Disliked Niente acqua calda fino alle 18:00, particolarmente fastidioso quando si fa il bucato

Disliked Servizi igienici non sempre puliti, senza carta igienica nè sapone. Docce calde solo dalle 18 alle 21. Eravamo in tenda, abbiamo beccato 2 giorni (e una tremenda notte) di pioggia, non c'era nessun modo per ripararci. Mancavano secchi della spazzatura (forse ce n'era solo 1 , in un'area adiacente all'area bimbi) attrazioni dei bambini mal funzionanti. Il camping ha alto potenziale , considerando che passi la strada e sei al mare, oltre a stare sotto ad una pineta, ma è gestito malissimo. Fa ridere pensare che per 6 giorni, non abbia mai trovato disponibile nè carta igienica nè sapone. Bisognava girare col rotolo di carta igienica per andare in bagno 😆

Liked Family oriented. Tent pitches on sand behind camper vans, most on the very edge of tree cover. Access to beach across the road. Business-like employee rather than friendly owner.
Did for one night, not in a hurry to go back.

Local attractions

If you can drag yourself away from your private lido and bar, have a change of scenery and languish on the sand at Baia Calenella (25 minutes), or go snorkelling off Zaiana Beach (40 minutes). There’s plenty of adventuring to be done in Gargano National Park (accessed from the site). For easy family hikes, head for the Umbra Forest (40 minutes’ drive, spot the wild orchids in spring) or combine walking with birdwatching for flamingos and herons on the shores of Lake Varano (15 minutes). Take a boat trip from Vieste (55 minutes) to the dramatic rock arches at San Felice or the caverns at Tomato Cave and Smuggler’s Cave. Still out on the water, catch a ferry from Rodi Garganico (10 minutes) to visit the clifftop Abbey of Santa Maria a Mare on San Nicolas in the Tremiti Islands. For more local culture, visit the National Archaeological Museum and walk the ramparts of the Swabian-Angevin Castle in Manfredonia (an hour and 10 minutes). Alternatively head inland to hilltop Monte Sant’Angelo (an hour) to visit the famed Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo and its grotto church.
