Media types have a lot of love for Camping Vignanotica in Gargano National Park, a well-maintained site that has appeared in many a magazine. And is it any wonder when it’s less than a 500-metre jaunt from a private beach, a spectacular spot framed by tall white cliffs, and rents out canoes and pedal boats for slicing through the water to the splendid sea caves in the area? When you’re after some shade, head back to the park and spread out under the centuries-old olive trees and thick pines, or pull on a wide-brimmed hat and seek out some indoor sights in local resort towns like Mattinata and Vieste (around 30 minutes’ drive). Camping Vignanotica is in rather a remote part of Foggia, so the owners have added all sorts of services on site, like a snack bar, shop and tobacconist, to make sure you don’t have to drive out of your way to run errands off base. Other facilities at this fab site are all about leisure: think a bar for adults to have sundowners at, a play area where the kids can let off steam and wifi for lazing about while browsing the web.

Liked Mare spettacolare, campeggio molto caratteristico dal punto di vista paesaggistico autoctono. Zone comuni piacevoli e ben tenute. Bei bagni, funzionali, puliti e ben tenuti in tutte le varie aree.
Piazzole molto ampie, sui terrazzamenti, senza divisori con il vicino. Zona ventilata, piacevole nonostante le giornate più calde. Quando abbiamo soggiornato noi, in pieno agosto, ognuno poteva scegliere dove attrezzarsi, senza imposizioni da parte del personale.
Non c'è presa acqua in piazzola ma ci sono due zone bagni che coprono bene il fabbisogno dei campeggiatori a seconda di dove si sono posizionati.
Al bar della spiaggia, servizio top.
Nessuna attività per ragazzi/bambini. La sera "si va al bar".

Disliked Non si può dire che non ci sia piaciuto, anzi.
Ad ogni modo è necessario segnalare che la spiaggia si raggiunge a piedi con un percorso in discesa (e quindi in salita al rientro) di circa 1 km, sullo sterrato. Si consigliano scarpe adeguate sia per raggiungere la spiaggia sia per stare al mare perché ci sono sassi.
La spiaggia è divisa in tre aree. Quella centrale è servita da bar, ristorante e lido. Le due aree laterali, sotto le rocce, sono libere e affollate vicino al lido. In queste aree libere, arriva l'ombra intorno alle 15.00 e dopo quell'orario non ci sono zone al sole se non in acqua. Nel lido c'è sole tutto il giorno.
Infine ma non per ultimo (e non è una critica, ma solo una doverosa segnalazione), per raggiungere il campeggio bisogna scendere per 4-5 km su una strada a una corsia, ripida e con tornanti. Incontrando in senso opposto macchine o camper, bisogna stare attenti ed essere ottimi guidatori, soprattutto di mezzi di grandi dimensioni. Si consigliano arrivi e ripartenze o al mattino prestissimo o alla sera tardi per non trovare traffico sulla via per risalire alla statale.

Il personale è super accogliente, tutte brave persone.
Il campeggio è organizzatissimo e attrezzato di supermercato, bar, frigo e anche lavatrice.
La spiaggia a pochi passi dal campeggio è come un piccolo angolo di paradiso da qui non vorresti mai più andartene via

Liked Plentiful, modern and clean showers, toilets, basins. 5 to 10 minutes walk to a beautiful beach. Friendly front desk - thank you for your hospitality. Nice restaurants nearby, WiFi, snacks available

Disliked Be careful on the access road to the site - will need some skill with a large motorhome as not a lot room to pass. This was fine despite my first time driving a large motorhome.

Local attractions

Vignanotica beach, the nearest bit of coast to this park in Puglia, is lapped by the clear blue waters of the Gulf of Manfredonia and has plenty of handy facilities including parasols, sunbeds, showers, toilets and bars. Spend days having a break by the water, perhaps leaving your lounger every now and again for a gentle kayak around the coast or to try out some kitesurfing and surfing. For more beaches to wind down at, mosey to the ones around Mattinata – one of the most eye-catching coastal towns in Gargano – or chuck some culture into the mix by visiting the necropolis on Mount Saraceno (half an hour), the remains of the Saint Maria of Pulsano abbey (an hour) and the Roman villa ruins near the port of Mattinata (half an hour). Countryside explores are also to be had – the site is in a national park after all – during mountain bike rides on the dense paths of Gargano’s tree-lined hills or while trekking in the Umbra Forest; jeep excursions are also available (ask for details on site) if you’d rather have someone drive you around. Back down by the sea, boat excursions are organised by local providers in the mornings with some vessels sailing to the Tremiti Islands and around the Gargano sea caves.
