  • Tiny Piemonte site in the garden of a family home; dogs welcome
  • A 35-minute drive to Cueno and Alba or an hour to Turin
  • Access to outdoor pool, barbecue area and shared relaxation areas
If you’re picking a pitch in the Piemonte region and you like the sound of a place where it’s almost like being welcomed by family, take a look at La Casa di Nana, a tiny little site where you’ll be hosted in the garden of a family home about five minutes' drive from the small town of Carrù. This is a compact place indeed, with just a handful of pitches set up on the grass in the tree-lined garden (it’s also fenced, so it should be nice and safe for kids and dogs). The hosts will make sure you’re well looked after, giving you access to their above-ground swimming pool, barbecue area and outdoor furniture for some chillout time. Showers, toilets and an internet connection are all available too, of course. One of the big bonuses of staying in a place like this is that you’ll be able to draw on the owners’ in-depth knowledge of the area to make the most of your trip – they’ll be on hand to point you towards the best places to eat, shop and visit. Cuneo and Alba (both 35 minutes' drive), are both well worth visiting, and the surrounding Langhe region has plenty to offer in terms of villages, vineyards, rural walks and historic sights. For some big city time it's about an hour's drive to Turin.

What customers say

Campground lauded for super-friendly hosts, great garden, kitchen, and pizza oven. Pool, lounge, and enclosed grounds (great for dogs!) also loved. Single washroom can mean waits, but overall, folks highly recommend exploring the Langhe region!

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass tent or RV campsite

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Casa di Nana is the perfect spot to discover the amazing area of Langhe. Guido and Sara are incredibly welcoming and they are more than happy to give ideas of places where to eat locally and how to make the most of the time you have to discover the beautiful Langhe. There is a big toilet with shower and washing machine and there is a very big garden outbuilding with a table, sink, a kettle and a little stove. The swimming pool is great and there are sunlounges to relax.

Liked Simplement de passage pour une nuit, nous avons passé un excellent moment. Très bel accueil, l'environnement est agréable et la piscine un vrai plaisir après une longue route. Un terrain clôturé, ce qui a été est un vrai plus pour notre chien.

Local attractions

The rural Langhe region is a lovely place to explore on foot or by bike – particularly if you follow routes that take you around some of the area's many vineyards. You may also like to stop by at historic attractions like Castello di Mombasiglio and the hillside Forte de Ceva (both 10 minutes' drive) or the impressive Sanctuary of the Nativity of Mary in Vicoforte (20 minutes), which has the largest elliptical dome in Europe. For some town time, head to lovely little Cuneo with its medieval arcades, its Baroque buildings and its impressive central square, which hosts a huge open-air market on Tuesdays. Alba is another great option – it's a UNESCO-listed city of gastronomy and an excellent place to sample local truffles or sip Langhe wines. Both are about 35 minutes' drive away. Up the urban stakes even further with a day exploring Turin (an hour) – perhaps visiting the Egyptian Museum and the GAM art museum before strolling around the city centre, filling up on street food as you go.
