You should start your day in the sea at this spectacularly set Adriatic coast site. And if you really need to clear the cobwebs, you should start the day in the sea as a member of the Campeggio Sabbia d'Oro exercise class… Watery antics are just the start of the entertainment and activities programme at this kid-friendly place in the Molise region's province of Campobasso: after a sea-based start to the day, guests have sports tournaments, zumba, pilates and kids’ activities during daytime hours, and a heady programme of evening entertainment afterwards including cabarets, live music, variety shows and dances in the indoor arena. Campeggio Sabbia d'Oro is shaded by poplar, eucalyptus, olive, ash and palm trees, within easy reach of Vasto and Aqualand waterpark. It's a couple of hundred metres' stroll from the site to Sabbia d'Oro's vast private beach, where you can bask on the sands, rent a beach umbrella or sun lounger (or bring your own), or have a terrace lunch or dinner at the bar and restaurant among spectacular sea views. Back on site for your family pursuits are a multisports field and a boules pitch, a playground, and a bar area with TV, board games and video games; you really should fine the kids if they ever say they're bored… Barbecues are allowed on site: pick up what you need at the well-stocked shop which sells everything from freshly baked bread to deli meat, frozen foods, fruit and veg.

Local attractions

Guests with sense will spend most of their Adriatic coast holiday on the Sabbia d'Oro private beach or snoozing on the site sun loungers, but do carve out time to see what's around the region too. You should, for example, have a day in Vasto 15 minutes' drive away, the terraced hillside city with 14th-century Old Town, Renaissance castle and Palazzo D'Avolos museum (its Old Town overlooks a long length of beach if you really can't stay away from the sands). Just outside town, take the tiddlers for a splash around at the Aqualand del Vasto waterpark. Within 20 minutes is the coastal city of Termoli, well worth a day to see its Old Town jutting out into the sea, its castle and its trabucchi fishing structures. Like most of the rest of Molise, this part of the coast is visited by Italian holidaymakers rather than foreign tourists, so if you're a non-Italian who wants to go native, this is a top destination to make for.

Liked: NOTHING !!!!!

Disliked: Booked grass/ hardstanding pitch with electric hook up and grey water disposal.....ended up on a piece of grass not marked out at all with 4amp electric couldn't even boil a travel kettle without tripping the switch......surrounded by other campervans and tents on a narrow strip of land and had to park car elsewhere......WIFI was €6 per day and showers were 50 cents but lasted about a minute.Beach and toilet block was a bit of a hike.Quite frankly I've seen better traveller sites.Music from adjoining sites went on until midnight....

Liked: Nice level pitches. We had a lovely view of the sea as no-one was parked in front of us. Quiet during the week.

Disliked: Extras to pay for showers €0. 50 for 3 minutes. No WiFi unless in rare hotspots. €5 00 to pay for one device for one day. Even then not very reliable.
Influx of families over the weekend -noisy.
