  • Peaceful site five kilometres from the beaches of Sestri Levante
  • A 45-minute drive from Portofino and Cinque Terre
  • Bar-restaurant serving local food and wine on a flowery terrace
Cameras at the ready, folks – Camping Santa Vittoria is well within reach of some of Liguria’s loveliest locations. Snap-happy times at pretty Portofino and Cinque Terre are both about 45 minutes away by car, although you may well be equally inspired by the immediate surrounds of the this scenic spot in the hills just outside the resort of Sestri Levante. Countryside and coast vie for your affections around here: you need only stroll out from the site for peaceful days of walking, cycling and horse riding, and it’s a five-kilometre journey to hit the coast for boat trips and fab beaches. If you don't fancy driving, a bus stops a few minutes' walk away. And what to do with all those images once you’ve captured them? A teeny bit of social media bragging perhaps? Handily there’s free wifi at the site, along with plenty of nice quiet spots around the gardens in which to lounge while you prepare your posts. A playground, table tennis and table football are on hand to keep small sorts amused, and local food and wines are served up on the bar-restaurant’s flower-filled terrace.

Local attractions

Camping Santa Vittoria’s setting away from the resorts lends itself rather well to days of fresh air and fine views. Have a natter with the folk on site for insider info on the best places for walking, bike rides and birdwatching; they can also point you in the right direction for the tennis courts, skate park and riding centre that are a short stroll away. For seaside days, take the 15-minute drive down to Sestri Levante, where there’s a choice of three fab beaches. Those who’d like to test out their sea legs can board boat trips to Portofino or the UNESCO-listed colourful coastal villages of Cinque Terre; both can also be accessed by road in around 45 minutes. A little further along the coast (around an hour’s drive) is Genoa, where you can take in museums and castles, come eye to eye with sea beasts at the aquarium or simply buy a gelato and stroll through the historic streets.

Powered grass and gravel RV campsite

Liked: The older lady was very helpful and pleasant

Disliked: The owner rude, crammed in with no space between, no fire extinguishers, no hot water for dishes or washing yourself, 1euro for a shower which lasted less than 5 minutes, electric very low voltage to the point all you could run were the lights and fridge.Very expensive for what was on offer.
