Active travellers, nature seekers and families all gather together for splendid Saarland holidays at Camping Losheim am See, a spacious 25-acre site on the edge of the village of Losheim am See. This location is a particularly fine one for an outdoor break – it’s a couple of kilometres from the village centre, so you’ll be within easy reach of shops, restaurants, bus stops and the train station. Heading a little further afield, it’s only a short drive to top spots like the Saarschleife Treetop Walk, the fantastic views from Saarpolygon and the UNESCO-listed Völklingen Ironworks. Not that you have to go that far to start taking in the scenery – this site is in the midst of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, with heaps of hiking and bike trails starting just behind the site and setting off into the forest, and the long-distance Saar-Hunsrück Climb not far off (try one of the ‘dream loops’ that run from the main trail if you can’t manage the whole 250 miles). And there’s more… because you’ll be staying right on the banks of Losheim Reservoir too, with access to the water for swimming, sailing and paddleboarding (or a circuit of the lake on foot if you’d rather stay dry). For kids that need even more activity, there’s also a play area and miniature golf on site, plus a restaurant and takeaway to provide fuel for all the family’s antics. Other amenities on site include a food shop, a launderette, showers and toilets, and you’ll be allowed to bring along barbecues or start campfires to keep warm in the evening.

Liked Location. Close to good roads. Close to a nice town with a fuel station and an Aldi.
It’s only a very short walk to the lake, which is great (and much needed during the heatwave). The services blocks are truly magnificent, best facilities I have used. Very modern, very clean.

Disliked Not a real dislike but the pitches aren’t big, they are very close to each other and there’s hardly any shade.

Un accueil plutôt chaleureux mais une personne bilingues serait un plus.
Camping très calme, même la nuit.
Fontaine fraîche et potable partout dans Le camping.
Tarif abordable

Disliked Manque fortement d'ombrage. En pleine canicule le séjour est insupportable.
Certains emplacements sont délimité par des butes de terre, les manoeuvres deviennent difficile.
Plusieurs acces au lac à pied, (le chemin interminable, surtout en pleine chaleur,avec tout les accessoires de baignades) mais un autre chemin abordable pour se rafraîchir, mais cailloux..
Numéros d'emplacements difficile a trouver, un panneau serait plus visible et faciliterait l'accès directement.
Le prix d'une baguette est abusif.

Disliked De staanplaats, open veld. Totaal geen privacy. Zet aub haagjes tss de plaatsen.
Als we gekomen waren in een drukke periode dan zouden we het gebrek aan privacy zeer vervelend gevonden hebben.

Make sure you’ve brought your boots or your bikes along – there are plenty of great trails to follow around here, whether you’re just after a short outing into the forest, a tour of the lake or a more extensive hike along the Saar-Hunsrück Climb. A popular highlight around here is the Saarschleife Treetop Walk (25 minutes’ drive), which follows a trail of a little over a kilometre to a 23-metre-high observation tower that has some stunning views over the trees and the river below. Other favourite outings nearby take guests to places like Montclair Castle (20 minutes), to Wolf Park Werner Freund (20 minutes) or to some more outstanding views at Saarpolygon (40 minutes). The Völklingen Ironworks (40 minutes) is well worth a visit too – this fascinating place has won a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list as the world's only fully preserved ironworks. Still got days to fill? How about a trip over the border to Luxembourg (an hour), or to France for a day in Metz (an hour and 10 minutes) and Nancy (an hour and 45 minutes)?
