If you’ve come to the Mecklenburg Lake District for some chillout time and pretty lake views (as would seem sensible), you’ll likely be most happy with your lot at Campingplatz am Drewensee, five minutes’ drive from Ahrensberg. If, on the other hand, you’ve come to the area for active times in scenic surrounds (as would also seem sensible), you’ll also likely be most happy with your lot. Folks who fall into the former camp should probably focus their attentions on the site’s sandy beach, which fronts the northern shore of the Drewensee and has a shop/snack bar to keep you fed as you spend the day sunbathing and swimming. If you’ve got nippers with less of an appetite for sitting down, point them in the direction of the playground and the beach volleyball court. Those who favour being out and about can easily get to the Müritz National Park for days moseying along walking or bike trails, or hire canoes and small motor boats on site to potter about on the lake. In fact, you’ll not be contained within one single lake – lots of the area’s lakes are connected by little waterways, so it’s easy enough to take in several without hauling your chosen craft out of the water. Back at base, the owners have made it easy to clean up and catch up with the world by kitting the place out with a wifi connection, a launderette and well-equipped bathrooms with handy extras like hairdryers.

Guests loved the natural setting, spacious pitches, and lake access for cycling and ping pong. Clean, plentiful washrooms and helpful staff were highlights, as was a handy shop. Dogs are welcome. A restaurant would be nice, and while stamps were missing, the beach and playground were fine. One guest had a bad experience and left early.

Liked Wir haben uns auf dem Platz sehr wohl gefühlt, da wir ausreichend Platz hatten und alles relativ natürlich gehalten ist. Die Nähe zum See, die Möglichkeit für Radtouren und Tischtennis zu spielen und die Sanitären Anlagen waren super. Mehr brauchen wir nicht;-).

Liked Sauber, freundlich, großzügige Stellflächen, kleiner Shop mit Artikeln für den Notfall, Hund durfte überall mit hin in äffentl. Bereiche und es gab sogar eine kleine Badestelle für vierbeinige Wasserratten

Disliked ein kleines Imbissrestaurant fehlte ein wenig wo man mal zu Abend essen gehen könnte wenn keine Lust auf selber kochen und es wurden Ansichtskarten verkauft aber leider keine Briefmarken dazu obwohl es ja einen Postkasten gab

Liked Sehr freundlicher Empfang, wir kamen mit Womo und Zelt und hatten einen super schönen, angemessener Stellplatz !Der kleine Laden konnte uns mit einigen Dingen , die wir vergessen hatten, aushelfen.
Die Sanitäranlagen waren sauber und reichlich, so das man nicht anstehen musste 😘

With a lake and a forest right there by your digs, it’s a cinch to get out for a stroll from the site. If you’ve set your sights on something a little lengthier, make for the Müritz National Park (20 minutes’ drive), which has a whopping 660 kilometres of trail taking in views of forest, marsh and the park’s 130 lakes. Birdwatchers will definitely want to stash binoculars in their bag for a trip here in the hope of spotting cranes, ospreys and white-tailed eagles. If all this natural loveliness gets a bit much, turn your attentions to the man-made version with trips to Mirow Castle (20 minutes), moated Boitzenburg Castle (50 minutes) and the handsome Rococo-style Rheinsberg Palace (35 minutes). There’s no shortage of castles around here, as it happens: Neustrelitz (20 minutes) has another fab example, along with a zoo and more lakeside walks. You’ll need to book a tour if you want to view the collection of heritage planes at Rechlin aviation museum (half an hour); no need for advance planning if you’re visiting Kunsterspring zoo (50 minutes), although it’s worth scheduling your visit to take in at least one of the animal-feeding sessions.
