If you’d like to combine a bit of time travel with a relaxing family holiday in the Ardèche, you can do just that at Camping Le Moulin d’Onclaire, set around a historic flour mill dating from the 17th century. And if you fancy heading even further back across the centuries, simply have a wander around the cobbled medieval streets of the neighbouring village, Coux. The area may be packed with history but the facilities on site are thoroughly 21st-century – there’s a modern services block, washing machines (requiring paid tokens) and wifi is available everywhere. In high season all manner of entertainment takes place for the whole family, from karaoke sessions to concerts. And you can also challenge the owners to a game of pétanque, or keep the kids amused on the trampoline and playing ping pong, table football table or pool. If you need a sit down after all that activity, retire to the bar, set prettily by the swimming pool, for a stiff drink. You certainly shouldn't go hungry at Moulin d’Onclaire, as breakfast is available every day in the bar, and you can keep the kids going with a supply of daytime snacks and ice creams (just be aware the bar closes during siesta time). For a taste of traditional Ardèche cooking, the vaulted restaurant serves up local dishes in romantic surroundings. If you prefer to go self-catering, there’s a bakery and restaurant five minutes’ walk away. A supermarket for topping up on essentials is over in Privas (five minutes’ drive).

A quiet, rustic site in lovely scenery with a welcoming, family feel. Guests enjoyed clean washrooms, hot showers & a small pool. Generous, shaded pitches, some riverside. Helpful staff. Adjacent restaurant is great, but site amenities are basic, with some dated washrooms.

Liked Lovely little campsite. Nice pool. Great facilities. Nice bar area. Have to book for food in restaurant but we arrived too late for this so if your arriving late just bring your own food and cook your own dinner.

Liked Very clean campsite. Pool was clean too with plants of sun loungers.
Restaurant menu was small but the food we have chosen were delicious.

Disliked Het sanitair en de netheid ervan. Vieze douches, warm water: soms wel/soms niet, wc’s niet voldoende gepoetst, deursloten en deurklinken marcheren maar half, het was er ronduit vies. Vuilbak sanitaire ruimte niet elke dag geledigd. In de afwasruimte werd de vloer niet gepoetst, deze vuilbak ook niet op tijd geledigd. Geen aparte plaats voor ledigen septische wc, moest je doen in buis met dekseltje op kampeerplaats andere vakantieganger.

Disliked de campingplaats voor tent en camper. Bovendien liet de sanitaire ruimte erg te wensen over. Gedateerd is niet erg, maar het moet wel schoon zijn. Wij zijn 2 dagen eerder vertrokken dan oorspronkelijk gereserveerd.

Liked Friendly helpful staff, nice pool and reasonably quite for June. Reasonably priced and in a very pleasant setting with river running alongside the site and cliffs on opposite bank. Wifi on our pitch worked fine.

Liked Peaceful campsite, lovely scenery and trees. Very clean facilities! Really liked the look of the pool but arrived too late to use it. Maybe next time we will have a swim. Friendly staff, nice pitch. Perfect for a stay over.
