- Family campsite with spectacular views near La Garde Freinet, Provence
- Half an hour’s drive to Saint-Tropez, and 10 minutes to Grimaud
- Pools, dining and bar on site; entertainment April to mid-September
With a spectacular setting in the hillside village of La Garde Freinet, the four-star Domaine de Miremer’s glamping accommodation sits high above the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, in pole position for exploring the posh enclave of Saint-Tropez, the canal-side village of Port Grimaud and Côte d’Azur beaches.
In high season (April until mid-September) you’ll never have a dull moment on site, as the animation team sets about organising all-day entertainment – there’s a club for kids aged six to 12, and loads of sporting activities to occupy teens. In the evening, you can all get together on the restaurant terrace and have a dance or a sing-along to live music.
The swimming pools get going in April (depending on the weather), including a heated pool, a leisure pool with submerged benches and a covered paddling pool for the toddlers.
Day-to-day cares are banished on site: paninis can be ordered all day and there’s no real need to bother about cooking at all, as salads, pizzas and steaks await in the alfresco restaurant, along with tempting desserts and ice creams for the kids – and at the end of a sun-filled active day, you might like to retire to the bar for a glass of chilled white or a fruity cocktail.
Going down the self-catering route? Bread and pastries are baked daily on site, and the grocery store is open all day to pick up essentials.

Local attractions
Fabled Saint-Tropez (half an hour’s drive) may well be on the top of your South of France bucket list for its celeb-spotting chances, lively bars and high-end boutiques, but it’s also got a couple of decent beaches with masses of watersports activity, including jetskiing and parasailing off the famous Pampelonne Beach (35 minutes).
Inland, there are tours and tasting on offer at vineyards around Grimaud (10 minutes), where you can also peek inside a hilltop chateau or head for the go-karting track and tennis courts if history’s not your bag.
There are Provençal markets aplenty in pretty towns nearby like Cogolin (10 minutes) and Ramatuelle (25 minutes), where you can pick up lavender soaps and cheery straw bags as souvenirs. Kids been good while you browse? Treat animal-mad youngsters to tortoise encounters in The Turtles Village of Carnoules (40 minutes) or meet the horses, parrots and goats at ZooParc du Cannet des Maures (half an hour).
