For scenic stays, the family-focused Domaine de Verdagne sure does deliver, with a backdrop of pleasingly green Var vineyards and close to some rather fine Mediterranean beaches (Saint-Tropez is 15 minutes’ drive away). This place five minutes' drive from the village of Gassin has fab family stays covered – many a chilled hour can be spent at the outdoor swimming pool, kitted out with plenty of sun loungers for a comfy place to keep a beady eye on the nippers as they amuse themselves in the splash zones of the colourful kids' pool. There's also wifi here if you'd like to spend some productive time uploading holiday snaps for the lucky folk back home. During high season, a kids’ club sets up all sorts of games, play areas and a bouncy castle to keep the mini members of the gang entertained, and the team puts on activities, sports and shows as well (in the pool, out of the pool, during the day, of an evening…), so everyone can join in. Any peckish feelings during proceedings can be sorted at the bar and restaurant on site, which open for lunch and dinner with a menu of traditional dishes and snacks. It’s also possible to get takeaway grub if you can’t tear yourself from the action for too long, and there’s a small shop selling bread and other essentials if you'd rather sort your own snacks.

Local attractions

Where better to start explores than in the village? Gassin is known for its fine position on a rock overlooking the coast, nearby towns and mountain peaks. It’s also home to several vineyards and wineries – check out Château Minuty, Château Barbeyrolles, Domaine Tropez and Domaine La Rouillère (clearly, for balance you'll need to try them all… as if you needed an excuse). Get closer to the coastal views by heading sea-wards – the beaches start a 10-minute drive away, with those of the famed Saint-Tropez around 15 minutes away. For a break from the sands and celeb-spotting, visit the Citadel of Saint-Tropez Maritime History Museum, a nautical museum housed in a 17th-century fortress. For family shenanigans, kids (both small and big) may like to head to Azur Park (10 minutes), an amusement park with 35 attractions and miniature golf, or to the waterslides of Aqualand Sainte-Maxime (20 minutes). Or scale some treetops at Aventure Famille (25 minutes), which has tree climbing courses and ziplining for the whole gang. Boat trips to the three Golden Islands (Les Îles d'Or) are also a good shout for hikes (and more beaches).

Liked Les sanitaires sont d'époque mais propres, le coin lessive est vaisselle sont pratiques. Dommage qu'il soit placé loin des gens en emplacement tente. Ils sont proche des mobiles homes qui eu ont tout le confort à l'intérieur. Prévoyez un WC s'appuie dans votre tente, car le camping est pas éclairé la nuit et c'est loin.

Disliked Très déçu dans l'ensemble du camping. Emplacement tente est sur de la terre poussiéreuse, heureusement pour nous qu'il y a pas plut. Camping pas entretenu, ni fini, déchets partout, piscine ou tout lke monde fait qu'il veux. C'est les jeunes de 16 ans qui mettent la musique du wech wech sur l'enceinte du camping. (j'ai 38ans). La piscine est froide car à l'ombre et les règles ne sont pas respecté (vu une bande de jeunes habillé qui fumais des clopes autour de la piscine, pleins de mec en short de bain. Si vous voulez planter une tente ici, je vous le déconseille, même la sardine elle n'entre pas dans le sol. Attention des marcassins vivent dans le camping, ne rien laisser en vu. A 00h plus de voiture doivent entré, pour respecté les campeurs, sauf que notre emplacement tente était pas sur le plan du camping, une haie nous séparait du parking, donc pas cool. Des excréments, poubelles..... Était sur notre emplacement (haies) forcément les campeur font chier leurs chiens sur le parking et je pense que les campeurs avant nous le fessait aussi vu que les sanitaires sont loins. Le coin poubelle est une decheterie qui s'éteint dans le bois. On n'ose à peine touché le couvercle de la poubelle tellement c'est propre.
Si tu es en fauteuil roulant, ne réserve pas ici. Sa monte et sa descend, les sanitaires ne sont pas adapté (je suis aide soignante, je sais de quoi je parle😉).
Attention à vos enfants, j'ai vu le personnel faire trempé dans un gros saut, les filtres de la piscine dans de l'eau de javel concentré. Pas de couvercle et posé à la proximités de tout le monde, c'est à dire devant les douches Sans surveillance. Dangereux à mon goût. Ce camping mériterai d'être réorganiser et nettoyer car il est très bien placer, pleins de plages et loisirs à proximité en voiture (laissez les vélos chez vous car trop loin et pas de piste cyclable à coter)

Liked The tavern / restaurant was good with pleasant and helpful staff, but lacked any depth to the menu.

Disliked The pitch was supposed to be grass/hard standing but was infact a dust bowl of soil, for the whole of the campsite there is only one water tap and if you are unlucky you need a 40 meter hose and extension lead .the shower block/toilets were about two hundred meters away and looked like they were built in the 1960s you have to take your own toilet paper as they do not put any in the dispensers .

Would not camp again think renting chalet would be a nicer holiday.

Disliked Electric hook up 3 pitches away had to run across other peoples pitches
Water tap had old bit of tubing attached so probably not safe to drink sanitation’s very shabby BUT always clean lots of signs saying save water and nearly every sink poured out water at waste! Sanitation’s long way from pitches
Shop and bar open am closed 2pm then opened again in evening shop sparse of goods

Disliked Remote location, poor access routes, distance to facilities from Motorhome pitches, limited knowledge of local area with reception staff and no grey water dumping location

Liked Quite central location. Surrounded by vine yards. Well kept. Friendly staff. Girls in reception really pleasant & helpful. Toilets & showers always clean. Fridge hire which was very handy.

Disliked Only 6 sun beds around the pool. The toilets were a little further away from the camping area than I would’ve liked.
