It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site an easy stroll from a sandy Mediterranean beach
- In Camargue Regional Natural Park, 40 minutes' drive from Arles
- Waterpark (pools and slide), snack bar, grocery shop and spa discount
You can feel the sea breeze wafting across the site at Camping la Brise – a sure giveaway that, yes indeed, you’re very close to the coast. In fact, this family-friendly spot in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur area is less than a five-minute stroll from Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer’s sandy beach (and several kilometres of sand beyond that…).
If you’ve a limited appetite for sitting on the sand, saddle up for beachy horse rides in town, or in high season sign up for sailing lessons at the harbour. Or you might even consider turning away from the beach to explore the rest of your surrounds – a fine idea, given that the site’s in the Camargue Regional Natural Park and thus within easy reach of lakes, salt flats and colonies of flamingos and wild horses.
Want the water even closer? Spend an afternoon (or two, or three) at the on-site waterpark – it stretches out over several outdoor pools, a paddling pool and a waterslide, so there’s plenty of space for splashing. Games of volleyball and pétanque await for when you need to dry off, as does whatever’s in progress at the multisports field.
If you can't treat yourself on hols, when can you? With that in mind, ask on site for details of discounts on local spa treatments, then sashay back for snacks and drinks on the bar terrace back at base. Or perhaps the other half might cook you dinner? If that's on the cards, it’s a cinch to pick up all the bits one needs at the grocery store on site.

Local attractions
You can't possibly come here and not see something of the Camargue Regional Natural Park, wending your way through the wetlands in search of wildlife. If you don't happen upon the flamingos the area's famed for, wing it over to the Pont de Gau bird park (five minutes’ drive), where sightings are a sure thing.
If you're more intrigued by what might be swimming beneath the surface, seek out Seaquarium (35 minutes) to see seals, sharks and other sea dwellers. On your return, aim to have a stop in Aigues-Mortes to wander around the old city walls (huge) and model railway museum (tiny).
Such scenic surrounds inevitably draw arty types to the area, and so it was that Vincent Van Gogh arrived in Arles (40 minutes), a place he found most productive for painting. Head over there these days and you can see the Yellow House where he lived and view some of his works at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles. A huge amphitheatre and other Roman sites to roam around are also in town.
