Excellent excellent Oléron, the French island famed for its long sandy beaches and a natural setting that we think will tempt holidaymakers to want to stay forevermore.
Set calmly and peacefully on the isle is Camping Le Saint Hubert, a restful and quiet site well located about a kilometre and a half from the beach and with some topping strolls and bike rides nearby.
The site is well set up for facilities too, including a waterpark with heated pools, a paddling pool, waterslides and hot tubs, alongside a bar and grocery shop. The playground and kids' club will take care of energetic Oléron-visiting enfants too.

Route directions
From Paris:
Follow the A10 motorway and exit at Junction 33 towards Rochefort. From there, follow the signs for Oléron and the Rochefort bridge.
At Marennes, drive over the Rochefort Bridge towards Saint-Pierre and Saint-Gilles. When you enter Saint Gilles turn left towards Les Sables Vigniers and from there you can follow the signposts for the campsite.

Local attractions
Oléron is a pleasurable place year round for visitors – and locals – for its plentiful sunshine throughout the year, its natural setting and those long sandy beaches.
Many activities are available for those visiting the island and Camping Le Saint Hubert, like checking out the 100 or so kilometres of hike and bike trails, dipping into the surf or cantering by horse along the island trails.
Off the island but still within easy reach, you could investigate La Palmyre zoo in Royan, the aquarium at La Rochelle, the theme park Luna Park or the Iléo waterpark.
You could also visit the island of Aix, take a boat tour around the famous Fort Boyard, or go to Fort Louvois and get immersed in the local history of Oléron.

RV, travel trailer and tent sites Arrive: noon – 7:30 p.m. Depart by: noon On-park accommodation Arrive: 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Depart by: 10 a.m. For rental accommodation stays outside of July and August, guests will need to go to Camping Les Grosses Pierres (200m away) to pick up the keys to their unit.
